JIM MCGUINNESS’S RIGHT-HAND man Rory Gallagher has cranked up the tension ahead of Sunday’s much-anticipated All-Ireland quarter-final against Mayo.
Gallagher suggests in the Irish News that the Connacht champions offered advice to the Farney on how to beat the All-Ireland winners before the Ulster final in Clones.
“Maybe we suspect there was a bit of collusion between Monaghan and Mayo,” Gallagher says. The coach also says that Mayo chief, James Horan has been working from a script prepared by well-known journalist and sports psychologist, Kieran Shannon, when addressing the media.
Meanwhile, the Monaghan have named their side for the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Tyrone in Croke Park on Saturday.
The Farney will line out with an unchanged side from that which defeated Donegal in the provincial decider.
Monaghan XV (v Tyrone): Rory Beggan, Kieran Duffy, Drew Wylie, Colin Walshe, Vincent Corey, Neil McAdam, Dessie Mone, Owen Lennon, Darren Hughes, Paul Finlay, Stephen Gollogly, Dermot Malone, Padraig Donaghy, Kieran Hughes, Conor McManus.
