MAYO GAA CHIEFS have expressed their content at the security of their sponsorship deal with Elverys Sports despite the company recently going into receivership.
The Mayo-based company announced last Friday that they were going into receivership before subsequently being acquired by the company’s management team.
The 650 jobs at the retail chain’s 55 outlets across the country have been protected. In late 2011, Mayo signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the company which notably featured a naming rights deal for MacHale Park.
The official statement released today by Mayo GAA reads:
“Despite recent speculation we are very happy that our long standing relationship and connection with Elverys remains in place and will do for the foreseeable future.
“We are very proud to have a company of the magnitude of Elverys as our main sponsor and we look forward to continuing that relationship going forward.
“As was recently speculated Mayo-based Elverys Sports was placed into receivership before being acquired by the company’s management team. It was also fantastic news to hear that the 650 jobs at the 55 Elverys outlets across the country would be secure.
“Elverys will continue to be displayed on the jerseys of all our teams and no doubt will see many appearances in Croke Park in the latter stages of the year.”
