IF YOU CAN’T be good, be lucky. Just ask Matt Jones.
The Australian had a huge slice of good fortune at the PGA Championship yesterday when his tee shot on the par-three 11th appeared destined for the water at the front of the green.
But instead of dropping into the drink, Jones’ ball ricocheted off the rocks and pinged onto the green.
As if that wasn’t lucky enough, the ball trickled its way back down the slope and eventually came to a rest about three feet from the hole.
After a shot like that, it seemed like it was Jones’ destiny to roll in his short putt for an unlikely birdie two — but no, he made a mess of it and had to settle for par.
