1999 All-Ireland winning captain Landers to coach Cork minors

The Killeagh club man will coach the Cork minors with Denis Ring appointed as the manager.

CORK’S 1999 ALL-Ireland winning captain Mark Landers will be the next coach of the Cork minor hurlers.

Landers appointment has been confirmed by the Cork GAA official website with Denis Ring, who was previously the manager a decade ago, set to reprise his role as the boss of the county minor side.

Killeagh club man Landers will be involved in his first major role at inter-county level but he has previous management experience with his club and with the UCC Fitzgibbon Cup team.

John Mortell (Ballyhea) and John O’Dwyer (Ballincollig) have been named as selectors for the Cork minor side with one other to be finalised.

Cork’s minor hurling record has been poor in recent years with their last All-Ireland title arriving in 2001 while they have not won or contested a Munster final in the grade since 2008.
