MARIO GÖTZE’S LEFT boot, with which he scored the World Cup-winning goal, has raised €2 million for charity.
The 22-year-old Bayern Munich star donated the boot with which he scored the only goal in Germany’s 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina to seal Germany’s fourth World Cup title in Brazil in July.
A single, unidentified donation has claimed the boot with all of the seven-digit sum going to the German charity “A Heart for Children” which helps disadvantaged children.
“That is overwhelming. I would have never dreamed of such a figure,” Götze told German daily Bild.
“Two million is such a huge sum. The good thing is that it’s for a good cause and not just for a boot.”
