MANCHESTER UNITED ARE within two points of the Champions League places after a gritty 1-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road.
David Moyes are now on a six-match winning streak after their latest triumph and the Scot will be pleased that his side are back keeping clean sheets after the 3-2 win over Hull on Boxing day.
Moyes started with Shinji Kagawa, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs in his team but took the brave decision to replace veteran Giggs at the break. Danny Welbeck was introduced and had an immediate impact. He linked up well with Javier Hernandez and was involved in a sweeping move that almost led to an Ashley Young goal.
On 57 minutes, United were 1-0 up and Welbeck was the man who started and finished the move. He chased down a Ryan Bennett clearance attempt and, when it fell to Hernandez, took the return ball, rounded John Ruddy in the box and slid in the opener.

Hernandez went close to doubling United’s lead before the home fans were screaming for a penalty. Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic outmuscled Irish midfielder Wes Hoolahan but referee Phil Dowd waved away the Norwich appeals.
