Man City: Tevez has case to answer

The Premier League giants appear to have been left unmoved by the Argentinian’s criticism of his interpreter.

THE ONGOING INQUIRY into the conduct of Carlos Tevez during last month’s Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich continued today, with Manchester City releasing a statement confirming their intention to pursue the striker for violating the terms of his contract.

Tevez has borne wave after wave of criticism since apparently refusing to come on as a substitute during City’s second European fixture of the season.

Following that game, a visibly incensed Roberto Mancini delared that the Argentine international would never again play for Manchester City.

In the days that followed, the player and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, criticised the conduct of the club’s resident interpreter, accusing him of inaccurately representing Tevez’s remarks during a post-match interview in which the striker appeared to admit to gross misconduct.

Today, Manchester City released a statement dismissive of the 27-year-old’s excuses:

“The Club has been conducting an investigation into the events of 27 September at the Allianz Arena.

The Club has now reached a stage in its investigation where it has concluded that there is a case for Carlos Tevez to answer of alleged breaches of contract.

Accordingly, the Club has informed him that he will face disciplinary proceedings and the hearing will be convened shortly.

Carlos will be required to report to Roberto Mancini for training on Thursday.”
