NOTHING SAYS A major championship is here more than defacing your national flag by scrawling the name of your local pub on it.

Davy Keogh has made his name by tying his banner to hundreds of stadiums through the years. Fans have paid tribute to their favourite boys in green. Bank and credit union managers have been thanked for the financial banking that supported trips to Germany, Italy and Korea.

And while Giovanni Trapattoni has been preparing his squad for the tournament in Poland, the Green Army have been getting ready too.

Here’s some of our favourite flags heading east in the coming weeks, via supporters at YBIG.

  FFS!!! Maybe they’ve just lost their job and have been saving for it over the last couple of years. Maybe they were made redundant and used some of their money to go to the finals. Are people on the dole not supposed to have lives. You lose your job and suddenly your expected to be instantly broke if not your a scroungers. Do you not save up for holidays and stuff.

  Sorry people. I work hard and can’t afford to save to go to Euros, nor go out at weekends or take a holiday. Obviously I’m too busy providing the tickets for others who dont work. Makes me wonder? I’m tired of this PC crap. Look you’ve lost your job that really is terrible. Instead of going to the euro’s how about giving back what you obviously don’t need.

  i think the men and women of 1916 would love to see our country and our proud people displaying our colours on a world stage with not a hint of red or blue!
  
  In Italia 90 it seemed everyone brought at least 2 flags and it was fantastic before the games reading them all, having the craic and seeing what pubs and villages etc were represented – Brilliant work, I only wish I was going…
