Magic moment: young athletes run race together after starting gun fright

One young runner returned to the starting line to give his friend a helping hand.

WHATEVER ABOUT LAST night’s result in Poznan, this is sport.

Young athletes Killian Martin and Liam Kovach from Scoil Aonghusa, Cashel, took part in Special Olympics Ireland’s Munster Area Athletics Event in Waterford on Saturday.

While the rest of the field raced off, Liam was a little frightened by the starting gun so his friend Killian returned to the line, took his pal’s hand and they ran their race together.

Check out the pics below thanks to Special Olympics Ireland.
