LEINSTER UTILITY BACK Ian Madigan and Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care were both issued warning for their part in a scuffle that broke out at the end of Saturday’s Champions Cup fixture.
Madigan was warned under Law 10.4 (n), misconduct while the ball is out of play, while Care was singled out for breach of Law 10.4 (I), retaliation, after the 77th minute stoppage.
The most serious incident in the melee earned a citing for Charlie Matthews. The lock was handed a yellow card after a TMO advised that he had moved his hands to the eye area of flanker Dominic Ryan. The second row will face the independent judicial officer in London tomorrow.
The sanctions for making contact with a player’s eye or eye area carry, under Law 10.4 (m), carry suspension entry points of 12 weeks in the low end, 18 weeks for a mid-range offence with the top end offence earning a ban of between 24 to 52 weeks.
