LIVERPOOL ARE BELIEVED to have opened discussions with Luis Suarez’s agent over a new contract that could see the in-form striker become the best-paid player in the club’s history.
The BBC has reported that the Merseyside outfit’s managing director, Ian Ayre, spent 24 hours in Spain early this week, where where he engaged in talks with Suarez’s representative, Pere Guardiola.
The Uruguayan is contracted to Liverpool until 2016 on £100,000 a week, but made strong efforts to leave the club as recently as last summer. However, it is believed that his excellence on the pitch this season has led to improved off-the-field relations with management and senior figures in the set-up.
If Suarez is to sign a new deal at Liverpool, it has been suggested that the club will need to double his wages to a staggering £200,000 a week, which would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s professional history.

Such a deal would complete a staggering turnaround for a man who was ordered to train alone by manage Brendan Rodgers as recently as August of this year. Suarez’s magnificence for Liverpool so far in this campaign has surely piqued the interest of other clubs, but the second-placed Premier League side realise exactly how important the 26-year-old is to their future.
Easily worth a 70/80m transfer fee and 200k/wk salary based on what’s out there at the moment. He’s certainly the best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo. If any club in the world were signing a striker right now with unlimited funds then I couldn’t see many overlooking him bar the two lads.
Liverpool must be commended for their overall handling of him. He’s dragged the Club down more times, but while they claim they’ve stuck by him as it’s a family.. We all know it’s a business and they’ve nurtured their most valuable asset to a position where they will maximise from his behaviour on field… He’s now firing them to the Champions league while continuously raising his value on the market – they can’t lose now after holding off the transfer request in summer. The days of signing dregs are over if they continue to run the Club like that and allow Rodgers a few bob for bargains a la Sturridge, Coutinho.
The best we can hope for is give him huge Money like the 200 a week as stated but more importantly get a massive clause of at least €100 million in there to protect the club from another stupid bit from the likes of arsenal.
As a United fan I hate Suarez, I think he’s a real sc*mbag and if not for football, he’d be in prison. That’s why it kills me to say he’s the best player in the league, a genius with a football!
Couldn’t be happier with him so far this season. What a lot of people are quick to forget is how happy he looks to be there at the minute and how his cut out any diving and acting the maggot that’s made him look bad previous seasons. Can only hope he stays for the long haul :-)
I would actually say it’s rewarding the 3rd best player in the world for outstanding form.
All geniuses have there flaws, also Evra is no angel the repeated clashes with the French football federation, the fight with the Chelsea groundsman and subsequent claim of racism.
Remember everytime Rooney lashes out ppl say “it’s a part of his game you can’t take away” yet Suarez is vilified.
Chelsea fan btw.
New contract is only securing abig fee for pool should they fail to finish in the top 4 though.
Not sure about that Peter. I think its probably more for scoring goals. Last I checked you don’t get any points for racism or thuggery. If you did most of the contributors on these forums would be probably be pro footballers
Once a knacker always a knacker. Surprised at liverpools lack of class. He’ll let you down and you’ll be sorry. Win at all cost won’t work for you I’m afraid, that’s not the mentality Liverpool football club was built on. Sorry!
Wages are not the problem, its the release clause he will want if Liverpool don’t match his ambitions. Given that he could be at a team in contention for domestic titles and the champions league, what are the chances Liverpool match his ambition any time soon!
Liverpool should let him go for stupid money if the likes of Madrid come in and fleece them for 2 or 3 of their players as well.Theyre a one man team at the minute and with Gerrard winding down, theyre goosed for midfielders to help Coutinho.in the long term it’d benefit them having a couple of class players and a war chest from the sale to acquire more……..of course,as an Everton fan,i hope that doesnt happen but it’d be in the best interests of the club IMO
One man team goosed without Gerrard. You obviously didn’t watch the match Sunday. No Gerrard and Henderson Lucas and Allen ran rings around the spurs midfield. Typical bitter blue nose. Wait till your bubble bursts and you lose your loan players. It’s the loan system has you where you are. You have the smallest squad of all the team in the top six. Seriously you need help
Ha ha ah all is forgiven now is it? LOLpool fans are gas. Heard one in the pub the other night saying he was lumping on them to win the league??? Made my year
Still available for champions league football this season. Expect a massive bid from one or two clubs. That might decide whether he signs a new contract or not.

Best player in the league by a mile.
He’s racist, cheats, dives, bites & worth every penny! Best striker in the world
O yea he’s a real hero isn’t he , kids can look up to him
They can indeed Norman,as much as they can look up to Rooney at least -.-
Couldn’t care less about Rooney or what he has done , I don’t see anyone promoting it here
And what’s being promoted here?
yes they can, everyone makes mistakes but it takes real character to change your ways and become an even better player
Woooarrrr that was inspirational!
I think the new Samsung ad people would disagree with you there Red
Fool

Your hate makes him stronger
His dental plan alone will cost any club a fortune :-=
A full generation of people just thought “dental plan? Lisa needs braces….”
There must be a record fantasy football points haul from Suarez this year
Couldn’t be happier with him so far this season. What a lot of people are quick to forget is how happy he looks to be there at the minute and how his cut out any diving and acting the maggot that’s made him look bad previous seasons. Can only hope he stays for the long haul :-)
Still end up at Madrid in the summer just with a bigger price tag
Contracts mean nothing these days, unless they get a mega release fee then its not worth the paper.
Reward racism and thuggery.. thats the way football has gone.
I would actually say it’s rewarding the 3rd best player in the world for outstanding form.

I would expect Pep’s brother Pere who is Suarze agent to tell them he wants to join Bayern

Taught the gunners were buying him!!
