LUIS SUAREZ HAS revealed he is ready to stay at Liverpool due to the support he has received from the club’s fans.
The Uruguay international had previously stated his desire to leave Anfield for a UEFA Champions League club, with La Liga giants Real Madrid thought to be his preferred destination.
However, Arsenal are the only club to have made a formal bid for his services this close-season and Liverpool owner John W Henry has stated that he has no intention of selling the 26-year-old to their Premier League rivals.
Despite publicly agitating for a transfer, Suarez was afforded a rapturous reception from Liverpool’s supporters when he appeared in Steven Gerrard’s testimonal game against Olympiacos earlier in the month.
And the striker has now seemingly accepted that he will not get his wish for a move before the end of the transfer window on September 2, citing this support as a key factor behind his reasoning to stay put.
While on international duty ahead of his country’s friendly against Japan on Wednesday, the striker told Uruguayan newspaper El Observador: “For now, due to all of the people’s affection (for me), I will be staying.”
Suarez has scored 56 goals in 91 appearances for Liverpool since his switch from Ajax in January 2011.

What a pile of Shite. He is not staying because of the support of the fans.. no sir..he is staying because every top club (bar arsenal) decided he was way too much of a lowlife to have on their books despite his ability. and we can’t sell him to arsenal. He has done everthing humanly possible to get away so there’s no need to insult our intelligence with this oul crap
Agreed, he alienated himself from the supporters with despicable behaviour and now that he realises he can’t leave he is trying to sell this tripe of an excuse to the kop.
What a little rodent! As a football fan I’m disgusted that I and others throw money at these egotistical selfish bastards. He was only leaving for the signing on fee as Arsenal havnt a hope of winning a Saint and Greavsie mug nevermind the Champions league! I’m a united fan so shouldn’t really admit it but Liverpool is a great great club and the fans are as loyal as anyone so to see this toe tag treat them like this after all they have done for him is an utter disgrace, it’s all about money, nothing more. Rooneys the same, he holds the club to ransom cos they “lack ambition” and then goes on protest cos Van Persie makes a show of him. Let them both rot in the reserves for a few years and teach them a well deserved lesson
Johnny, you are the polar opposite of what I was expecting comment wise on this article. You are spot on lad. It is not going to be easy watching this tramp in a Pool jersey any time soon. And a few goals are not going to change that for me. Himself & Rooney may watch on as Bale joins the real elite.
I don’t know what any of us expect if Rooney is doing it at a club winning trophies and Suarez and vale doing it that’s just the way football is going so we all just have to get on with it and keep supporting the clubs and the players that play for them
*bale
Barry you are in the same place now as we were with Rooney in 2010, he deserved a slap in the face for his antics. Regardless he disrepected the club and the fans, yet was taken back and won medals. I will always say that he is a fabulous player when on form and untouchable at times, that said he will NEVER get legend respect from United fans now.
All you need to do is swap Suarez and Rooney above and it will be the same thing. Suarez will probably still get the guts of 30 goals, and will be a MASSIVE influence on the PL position for LFC, but regardless, there is no coming back from this.
Difference being, we will (hopefully!) address the problem over 6 months where utd failed to do so over a season. Hopefully the Pool will identify a striker over the season to take his place and away with him after that. Utd should have treated Rooney like they did previous renagades. The Pool do not have the option to do it over a tranfer window. We’d need much more time as we do not attract the talant as easily. I wish they did but we don’t. I’m honestly baffled by Rooney. Then again, he ain’t the sharpest tool now is he.
Its encouraging to see this player power bullshit uniting football fans against it.
Johnny they both will soon change their tune once the season starts and they realise that sulking and not giving 100% is not the answer , which will result in not being picked and affect their what would normally be an automatic place for their international teams for the World Cup in Brazil
uniting ,…… nah, still can’t stand ye! :D
Rooney is a plank, come on a young lad with a LOAD of money goes after a granny…….
I still don’t want him going to a PL club as he will make them stronger and MAY be the difference. Though I thought the same when Torres went to Chelsea and well that didn’t go so well, yes Chelsea won trophies, but they weren’t down to the signing of Torres.
Anyway, back to arguing with you Barry, this nicey nice isn’t nice ;)
Moyes can’t attract players. Utd poxxed the league last year etc… etc……
Your rebuttal please YourAulLady ;)
Least United won the league……
Next :D
I got nothin.
I got less ;)
Chris,
First off,it’s Bale.
You don’t just have to get “on with it”.
As a supporter, you are entitled to an “opinion”.
And if you happen to have one, then you can express it.These clubs are much bigger than these overpaid shitheads, and as soon as they express a desire to leave, they should just sell them or let them rot in the reserves;whichever is more beneficial for the club.
Good to see pool/utd making players honour their contracts. Hopefully suarez stops sulking now and would be great to if he could stop causing trouble too(not sure if that’s possible though!) Great player, I’m sure us fickle fans will soon fall in love again when he starts banging in the goals… Even if he is full of shit!
Wenger will be delighted with this news, his fake transfer target story has worked out. Now he won’t even pay bayern the asking price for gustavo.
Wenger out
Think this guy has bitten off more than he can chew , and buy all accounts this isn’t the first time .
I think these quotes are fake by the way. Suarez has said he won’t comment on Liverpool and other reports are saying that he is not bothering to work hard in training. I still think he will leave but not to join arsenal
Ps well said jonny irish
He needs to win back the fans, he has been a disgrace
My arse! He is staying because the only club willing to take a chance were Arsenal and thats not going to happen. Liverpool should make him beg to play.
At the end of the day fans will always stay loyal on matter what, but these days a players loyalty is decided by the size of his cheque each month. The bigger the cheque the bigger the loyalty. Thats football. As a Liverpool fan i learned a lesson with Torres and while i love, the on the pitch suarez the human in him is always going to make him want more money and Thats why whether a player stays or goes wont ever bother me again.
Liverpool should really be selling this guy but because we are shite they also like him have no choice but to accept the situation.
He’s a shite bag himself & Rooney they should both be left to rot in the reserves but that’ll never happen. Both sets of fans won’t give a hoot once they start scoring goals again. Its all about the money with all players now contracts aren’t worth the paper there wrote on.
If Liverpool (and B Rodgers) had any dignity, they would get rid of this idiot.
They keep claiming that there is a “Liverpool Way” yet keeping this racist, cannibal, goal scoring machine hardly fits the bill.
Either, get rid of him,or stop waffling on about “The Liverpool Way”.
As a Liverpool fan I would have loved to have seen him sold for £40m or so, but ONLY to a club outside the Premiership – It would have been Premiership-suicide to sell him to Arsenal because, despite his disgraceful behavior, he is a superb goal-scoring asset to any team and if LFC had any aspirations of getting into a Top 4 position then they couldn’t have ever countenanced selling him to one of those main rivals.
But here’s an interesting stat – if you had taken away all of Suarez’s goals and the resultant points they directly helped to win, Liverpool would have finished 7th. If Rodgers has attempted to doing anything over the summer it’s build a squad capable of getting into the Top 4 so reducing the over-reliance on Suarez.
Figo, Torres, kaka, nasri….all of them moved to their direct competitors for champions league football and success. Why else is the Rooney, Suarez, Bale episodes any different. If I was a top accountant, biochemist, engineer whatever, companies would head hunt me for my services. Same as in football. You wouldnt give anyone in your life a hard time if they wanted to move jobs where the pay and conditions are better. People go on about loyalty and respect for clubs but that’s a load of horse dung. That’s long gone out of the game. Most players couldn’t give a swing of a cows t@t what club they play for as long as their pay check is bigger. And a lot of them give the two fingers two the society around them cos they think they can do as they please. I say sell suarez, bale, rooney….cash is king. The fact that they get so much air time is a crap reflection on our values in the present day. And don’t get me started on drugs in sport….but perhaps these managers and clubs refusing to sell is finally someone saying enough is enough with this crazy behaviour with money. its like a game of monopoly. makes me sick….rant over!
Nice rant Darren but of the three premier league players you mentioned Rooney’s case is completely different because he is the only one of those three you mention. playing for a club in the Champions League this season.
In the champions league or competing to get into the champions league then. It’s a shambles either way.
Obviously you are not a top accountant, biochemist or engineer.
First off,you say “sell these guys, cash is king”then you say “maybe the managers have it right in not selling them”.
If you were a top accountant, biochemist or Engineer, you would be asked to commit to an opinion.
And not waffle, without reaching any conclusion.
Sell or Keep??????
Lol that was my opinion. An opinion can suggest possibilities (how the managers are standing firm….for how long time will tell) as well as giving ones thoughts (sell them because they are suffering from van hoijdonk syndrome). The whole football transfer market is unrealistically increasing exponentially out of proportion. 40million for one person? And the behaviour of players involved to boot is bizarre. 40 million would get them a good education.
Plenty of our kids in schools are getting psychological assessments these days. Another opinion I believe is these players should be psychologically assessed as well as a full physical medical. At least then managers might have an insight to the nut jobs they are buying blindly. Perhaps cultivate good respectable educated footballers in their academies instead of the current mandness.
Now they are saying here DIDNT say it that he will say…. I give up
Nice rant Darren but of the three premier league players you mentioned Rooney’s case is completely different because he is the only one of those three you mention. playing for a club in the Champions League this season.
