'Bullied' Luis Suarez confirms he wants to leave Liverpool

“If I stay,” said the striker, “I will do my best here but I don’t think that will happen because of all the bullying against me.”

LIVERPOOL STRIKER LUIS SUAREZ has confirmed that he wants to leave the club due to what he decribes as bullying and taunts from the British media.

The forward, who was banned for 10 matches for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield, told reporters today, at a press conference for the Uruguayan football team, that he wanted to leave for family reasons.

He said, “My reason for leaving is my family and my image, I don’t feel comfortable here any more. If it were for money I would have left by now. My family is my priority now.” Suarez added:

It is a difficult moment for me, my coach and my colleagues know that [the media] didn’t treat me well so I know I have to leave… I was being persecuted by the paparazzi. I could not go into my garden or to the supermarket.”

The striker said he was saddened that he had been subjected to intense media scrutiny, taunts and daily pictures in newspapers and that ‘nobody said anything’ in his favour. He did admit that he had brought on much of the abject media treatment by failing to conrol himself on the pitch against Chelsea.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back was my mistake,” he said. “I accept it was my fault.”

Suarez has been linked to Real Madrid but declared he knew nothing of any possible moves to Spain. He added, “If I stay, I will do my best here but I don’t think that will happen because of all the bullying against me.”
