Scenes! Ludogorets defender goes in goal for shootout and clinches Champions League spot

This lad won’t have to buy a pint for a while.

LUDOGORETS VERSUS Steaua Bucharest was not a game many of us planned on watching tonight.

Yet plenty of us tuned in for an incredible penalty shoot-out between the Bulgarian and Romanian sides with a place in the Champions League group stages on the line.

And what drama we witnessed.

The Ludogorets goalkeeper was sent off moments before the end of extra time after the tie ended 1-1 on aggregate so the defender Cosmin Moti has to jump in goal.

He planted his own penalty first up and then saves two of Steaua’s. Unreal stuff.
