Love bets: Wozniacki has one up on McIlroy

The Danish tennis star hinted that she may possess a photograph of her boyfriend in a Liverpool jersey after a wager between the two went her way. The horror!

YOU WOULD THINK that a relationship between the top-seeded woman in tennis and one of the best golfers in the world was competitive enough already.

Well it seems not, as Caroline Wozniacki has admitted that her and Rory McIlroy have bets with each other on winning tournaments.

The Dane, who is currently preparing for this week’s Sydney International, spoke openly about her love affair with the Hollywood golfer, which has gained a lot of attention from the media and fans since they were first spotted together back in July of last year.

And she revealed that they regularly wager “little bets” on small matters such as winning major competitions in their respective sports.

“We had one bet about who was going to win a tournament first, and I did,” the 21-year-old told Reuters.

Right now we don’t have any bets going on, though. I just think it’s great that he’s doing so well. I’m really happy for him.”

As well as praising her Northern Irish boyfriend, Wozniacki suggested that one particular forfeit may have involved avid Manchester United fan McIlroy wearing the jersey of her beloved Liverpool.

Wozniacki, whose father Piotr played in Danish football with B1909 in the 80s, won the Liverpool shirt signed by club captain Steven Gerrard at the 2011 Qatar Open.

“I can’t tell you what I won,” she said. “It’s something I had to put on Twitter but I didn’t do it because I thought I should be nice.

“Actually, I still have that ace in my hand in case he’s not nice to me,” she added.

“We’re big fans of different football clubs, let’s just put it that way.”
