Long, Whelan and Walters all doubts for Austria game

However, all three are expected to travel for the game in Austria on Tuesday.

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI HAS another headache today following last night’s disappointing result against Sweden with the news that Shane Long, Glenn Whelan and Jonathan Walters are doubts for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier with Austria.

Walters is understood to have an ankle injury, while Long suffered a dead leg and Whelan has a muscle strain, though all are expected to travel for the game regardless.

Trapattoni has acknowledged that the match is a must-win for Ireland following last night’s loss, and the Italian told RTÉ that he was considering changing “two or three” players, but insisted he would not ring the changes for the encounter.
