And we’re off in the three o’clocks
The big news for FF enthusiasts is that Van Persie starts after recent news that he might be rested. Arsenal do need the win after the draw against Wolves though
GOAL! Norwich 0-1 Fulham
Orlanda Sa strikes to open the scoring.
Meanwhile Spurs are badly under the cosh against Swansea, who are creating a series of chances.
And almost 2-0 Fulham with Kyle Naughton clearing off the line for Norwich.
Wolves looking clever at Bolton, with McCarthy setting his team up well.
Norwich almost pull one back there with Morrison forcing a goalline clearance from Stephen Kelly. Fulham had been on the up.
Van Persie causing trouble at Emirates for QPR… the only trouble is that he’s pretty much the only one. Arsenal look flat otherwise. Arsenal need to win this to overtake Liverpool again.
This from Kristian Jack:
Norwich losing 1-0. Like Blackburn, have now conceded in all 19 games to start a season
Stoke perhaps should have had a penalty as the ball strikes Gary Caldwell’s arm in the Wigan area. Waved away though.
GOAL! Bolton 1-0 Wolves
Sam Ricketts strikes for Bolton to really alleviate the pressure. Wolves had looked the stronger team.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Aston Villa
Dunne returns to bad old ways to give away a penalty and Drogba – after some debate with his teammates about who was to take it – sends it home.
It was Drogba that took Dunne down by the way.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa
Stephen Ireland scores! There seemed a handball on the line from John Terry – which would have been a red card – and Ireland taps it home.
That’s Stephen Ireland’s first goal for Villa.
What’s he been smoking etc etc
Question there: with Ireland’ goal, Terry could have been red-carded with Villa also given a penalty? What would you have taken? The goal or the extra man and opportunity to score. I’d go for the latter. It’s a double advantage.
Orlando Sa causing Norwich all manner of problems, with Fulham getting back on top there.
Might have been a penalty for Arsenal as Koscielny’s shot strikes Luke Young’s arm/shoulder. The referee gives him the benefit of the doubt.
Stephen Ward strikes the bar for Wolves!
Oh, chaos at the Emirates as Thomas Vermaelen is booked for a tackle that Laurent Koscielny made! Vermaelen walks away shaking his head as the referee just won’t listen.
Scott Parker is limping at the moment at White Hart Lane. That’s not what Jamie Redknapp or Sky Sports will want.
Figueroa has go from the halfway line. This time, though – unlike last season against Thomas Sorenson when he scored a 50-yard screamer – he’s off target.
GOAL! Swansea 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Swansea, who had been defending and performing so well, fail to clear properly, allowing Van der Vaart to pick his spot.
GOAL! Stoke City 0-1 Wigan
Victor Moses finishes superbly from Hugo Rodallega’s cross to open the scoring for Wigan in this classic clash of styles.
Half-times everywhere now except at the Brittania between Stoke and Wigan.
Arsenal laid absolute siege to the QPR goal at the end of the half by the way – the only game without a goal – but couldn’t find the breakthrough. It’s very unlikely Rangers will be able to hold on if that continues.
The second halves under way.
GOAL! Bolton 1-1 Wolves
No reprieve for Bolton after all and, in truth, that had been coming. Steven Fletcher scores yet again.
Sam Ricketts, by the by was at fault for that goal having been caught napping by Fletcher. Jarvis with the cross.
Villa looking good on the break against Chelsea – with John Terry miscuing.
Tottenham well on top at Swansea now, with Vorm forced to save from both Kaboul and Adebayor.
Walcott clean through for Arsenal, should have scored… but he’s pulled it wide!
Vermaelen has gone off for Coquelin. The hope for Wenger is that isn’t a serious injury.
At Stamford Bridge, Cech makes a fine save from Agbonlahor. Chelsea facing their fourth successive 1-1 draw in a row, if not worse.
Lampard on for Romeu at Chelsea.
GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 QPR
Robin van Persie slides it home first-time after an Arshavin assist. Needs one more to equal Shearer’s record of goals in a calendar year.
Torres has just come on for Sturridge and immediately hits the bar! Might he have an impact here!?
Taarabt forces a good save from Szczesny from distance. Skipped up awkwardly.
Arshavin off for Rosicky.
Angel Rangel inches wide for Swansea against Spurs!
Walcott coming on for Arsenal for Gervinho… missed a sitter which means he didn’t score at the Emirates in the Premier League in 2011
Scott Parker goes off injured for Jake Livermore at Swansea.
Penalty to Stoke and a red card for Gary Caldwell
GOAL! Stoke 1-1 Wigan
Walters smashes home the penalty
Caldwell, we should say, was sent off for making a supreme save from Cameron Jerome on the line with his hand. There we go, that double punishment for Wigan.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-2 Aston Villa
Oh dear Chelsea! Stilian Petrov claims an unexpected – but not undeserved – strike.
GOAL! Swansea 1-1 Tottenham
And now Scott Sinclar gives Swansea a deserved equaliser. A day for turn-ups seemingly.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-3 Aston Villa
What a day for Stephen Ireland! He breaks and unselflishly squares for Darren Bent to finish. What a result!
GOAL! Stoke 2-1 Wigan
What a turnaround with Cameron Jerome striking, but there’s more drama here….
Penalty to Wigan, and it is a dubious one, with sub Ben Watson about to take it with his first kick of the match! He’s missed two this season already! Pressure…
GOAL! Stoke 2-2 Wigan
Watson smashes it home! That is bottle to be fair. He’d missed two penalties this season, he’d only just come on but with his first touch he scores.
Jon Walters, by the by, set up that strike for Jerome.
Chaos the last few minutes! What an odd day of football.
Five minutes of stoppage time at the Brittania.
FULL-TIME: Swansea 1-1 Tottenham
Good result for Swansea and a deserved one. Spurs not their usual selves, which means they’ll probably take the point.
FULL-TIME: Bolton 1-1 Wolves
Bolton at least don’t lose but if they’re going to stay up this is exactly the kind of game they will have wanted to win.
FULL-TIME: Chelsea 1-3 Aston Villa
A massive shock but, again, not undeserved.
GOAL! Norwich 1-1 Fulham
Simeon Jackson equalises for Norwich at the death!
FULL-TIME: Stoke 2-2 Wigan
Chaos at the end of a terrific contest of styles.
Well, an absolutely chaotic day in the Premier League. We’ll be back shortly with a review of the action.
