Some quick questions for today’s 3 o’clocks:

Manchester City v Wolves

How many can City put past Wolves? Or will last week’s comeback against Swansea buoy Wolves enough to upset form and momentum?

Norwich v Blackburn

Can Norwich consolidate their position in the Premier League by claiming another scalp from “that end of the table”?

Sunderland v Aston Villa

Can Darren Bent beat his old team? or, given the defences and the dearth of creativity, are we likely to see a low-scoring game?

Swansea v Bolton

How entertaining will this be? Two open teams with pleasingly contrasting styles?

Wigan v Fulham

A battle between two teams destined for the Championship? or can Wigan get on course with an end to this miserable seven-game losing streak?

Away from the pitches, good news for United: Cleverley is likely to be back for their Champions League game in midweek. But Smalling is out for a month with a broken toe and Ashley Young for two weeks.

Andre Villas-Boas: “We will stick to this [attacking] philosophy. We are proud of the way we play”.

Almost a quarter of an hour in and very little action out there. Chelsea-Arsenal seemed to use up the quota for the day.

Yakubu misses a sitter for Blackburn, hurrying a shot and hitting well wide. They need to be taking those.

GOAL! Sunderland 0-1 Aston Villa

A sublime finish from Petrov, curling the ball in from 22 yards after being teed-up by Long-breaker Alan Hutton.

Aguero misses a sitter!

It’s not been great out there at the moment. We’re watching five games at once here and there’s been absolutely minimal action.

Aguero beginning to look livelier for City as they probe and probe. Wolves solid so far.

All in all, this is an awful game. City of Manchester stadium strangely subdued.

GOAL! Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villa

Stephane Sessegnon plays in Connor Wickham who fires low across Shay Given. Storming finish.

Norwich should be 1-0 up against Blacjburn, Elliott Bennet firing wide when in a fine position.

WHAT a save from Wayne Hennessy! Yet another divine through ball released Edin Dzeko who fired at goal but the Welshman acrobatically tipped it just wide of the post. You could feel the stretch!

GOAL! Wigan 0-1 Fulham

This is not good for Wigan. Heading for eight defeats on the trot as Clint Dempsey scores for Fulham. Set up by Zamora.

HALF-TIME: Manchester City 0-0 Wolves

Referee Stuart Atwell getting booed as he heads off. He’s certainly stopped the game flowing. But then City have hardly looked fluid themselves.

GOAL! Norwich 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

In stoppage time, Junior Hoilett is allowed run unchallenged before firing into the top corner. Big goal for both Steve Kean and Rovers.

And we’re back under way for the second halves.

Good stat there from Danny Pugsley. City have been 0-0 at half-time in three games this season. They’ve won all three while scoring 10 goals in the process.

In saying that, this is – yet another – “test” for their title credentials. If it goes to 70 minutes and they haven’t scored, can they force the result over the line in the manner of previous champions.

And Swansea should be 1-0 against Bolton, with Danny Graham flashing just wide.

GOAL! Swansea 1-0 Bolton

And, immediately, Swansea do go ahead. Joey Allen fires home from just in side the area. To make matters worse for Bolton, Ricardo Gardener has also been sent off.

Doyle and Lescott going at it there. There’s always been an aggression to Doyle.

Stuart Atwell does not seem to be having a good game. Ten fouls to one against City in the first half, despite dominating possession. That doesn’t quite add up.

GOAL! Manchester City 1-0 Wolves

Oh Hennessy! After keeping Wolves in it with a superb first-half save, his kick is charged down by Aguero. The ball cannons back to Dzeko who easily slots home.

Wolves, to be fair, have responded well to the goal. They’ve really picked up their performance. Overall, the second halves have been much better here.

GOAL! Norwich 1-1 Blackburn

Steve Morison with a superb finish after a flowing move. Barnett eventually set up but, overall, what a goal

GOAL! Swansea 2-0 Bolton

Scott Sinclair converts a penalty after Graham had been brought down.

Dzeko coming off to be replaced by Adam Johnson. Despite his fortuitous goal, he’s had a poor game.

Wolves have held it together very well today. It would be a shame if they lost to tht slip.

Sunderland beginning to really trouble Villa. Bendtner should have scored from two headers in three minutes.

GOAL! Norwich 1-2 Blackburn Rovers

Fine through ball from Formica sets up Yakubu who smashes low to see the ball eventually squirm past Ruddy.

GOAL! Manchester City 2-0 Wolves

David Silva’s shot at goal is parried by Hennessey allowing Kolarov to tap home. That’s that.

GOAL! Norwich 1-3 Blackburn Rovers

It’s all fallen apart for Norwich. Pedersen’s free-kick from the left is headed home by the stooping Samba.

GOAL! Swansea 2-1 Bolton

Danny Graham with an own goal just after Allen should have wrapped the game up.

PENALTY to Wolves at City.

Hart makes an atrocious parry to leave Doyle with a tap-in but, just as he’s about to strike, Kompany body-checks him.

Also a justified red card for Kompany.

GOAL! Manchester City 2-1 Wolves

Game on here. Stephen Hunt slots home against the 10 men.

Looking to consolidate the result, Mancini has also brought off AGuero for central defender Savic. This is interesting.

Wolves sensing blood here. They’re going for this… lots of long shots though as Hunt blazes over there.

Kompany’s red card means he will  miss City’s trip to Anfield.

City panicking a little bit now with a lot of wild swings around their half.

McCarthy going for another double substitution. The only boos this time come from the City fans. Can it result in another comeback from 2-0 down?

GOAL! Sunderland 1-2 Aston Villa

Big Richard Dunne glances in Petrov’s free-kick. Deserved for Villa.

GOAL! Norwich 2-3 Blackburn

Bradley Johnson ensures there’s life in this one yet.

GOAL! Wigan 0-2 Fulham

Wigan on the verge of their eighth defeat in a row as Dembele seals it with a superb individual goal.

GOAL! Sunderland 2-2 Aston Villa

It’s all happening at the moment! Sessegnon heads home a Larsson free-kick

GOAL! Manchester City 3-1 Wolves

That, you have to say, is a champion’s response from City. Under the cosh as Wolves pressed for equaliser, Balotelli eased the pressure with a brilliant steal and run. The ball eventually found its way back to Adam Johnson who finished well from about 30 yards.

GOAL! Swansea 3-1 Bolton

With Bolton pushing forward, Swansea break allowing Graham to coast through and make up for his own goal.

According to Opta, Danny Graham is the 30th player in Premier League history to score a goal and an own goal in the same match.

FULL-TIME: Manchester City 3-1 Wolves

After last week’s fireworks, City returned to the more functional style that has mostly characterised their season. They did show superb character to win given the circumstances however: 0-0 at half-time as well as going down to 10 men.

It’s cruel on Mick McCarthy, however, who must again console himself with the performance while lamenting the result.

PENALTY to Norwich

Real drama at Carrow Road!

GOAL! Norwich 3-3 Blackburn Rovers

Grant Holt scores the penalty to deny Steve Kean the three points after Blackburn had lead 3-1!

FULL-TIME: Sunderland 2-2 Aston Villa

Despite the late drama, probably a fair result for two sides destined for mid-table this season.

FULL-TIME: Norwich 3-3 Blackburn

Norwich illustrate why so many people admire them, Blackburn why so many people fear for them. Despite leading 3-1, Steve Kean’s side capitulated against Norwich’s attacking adventure.

FULL-TIME: Swansea 3-1 Bolton Wanderers

Two teams that seemed to have swapped positions and perceptions. Swansea are the upwardly mobile team who people admire for their play; Bolton are struggling to get clear of the relegation zone.

FULL-TIME: Wigan 0-2 Fulham

Wigan suffer their eighth defeat on the trot and, at the moment, look certainties for relegation.
