Good morning, I know what you’re thinking: ‘was it all a beautiful dream? Did Euro 2012 really get off to a thrilling start yesterday?’

The answer is yes…. and yes.

As Ruud Gullit condemns UEFA’s handling of the racist abuse received by Holland, there is another shame on the tournament this morning with this footage of (what appear to be) Russian fans attacking a steward inside the stadium.

Pretty shocking stuff:

Elsewhere in Poland, Giovanni Trapattoni has been reminding his well paid squad of what should be motivating them in Poznan tomorrow. Plus he has taken the word ‘betray’ from Kevin Foley and used it to his advantage.

COYBIG

In the words of Ray Wilkins: ‘My Word’. Roy Keane is a changed man.

From now on you can know him as @RKeaneOfficial the man’s got Twitter and he knows how to use it.

ITV money must be big money

Jeez, that Obama lad is really Keane (eh? eh?) on the Irish-American vote.

As the countdown continues to the (*imagine scary booming voice*) group of death, our friends over at Betfair have this to say for themselves;

Enjoy a risk free €20 bet plus up to €1,000 cashback

I’d put it on Holland to beat Denmark today, just sayin’.

Having returned home following the death of his father, Jermain Defoe is now back in the England camp.

Ireland midfielder Keith Fahey, who was forced to pull out of the squad with a groin injury after the recent friendly with Bosnia Herzegovina, has tweeted all the way from his holidays in Thailand to wish the lads good luck against Croatia tomorrow. You’ve got to feel for the former St Patrick’s Athletic man.

Ireland play Italy in their third Group C fixture on June 18. First though, the Azzurri take on Spain tomorrow evening and you can watch their pre-match press conference with manager Cesare Prandelli and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon live now on the UEFA website.

In a statement released this afternoon, Wroclaw police have said four people were hospitalised after that incident (watch the video footage further down or here) involving stewards being attacked by a gang of fans at the Russia v Czech Republic game last night.

Looks who’s getting into the spirit of things…

We’e a little under an hour away from the first of today’s Group B fixtures as the might of Holland take on ’92 champions Denmark in Kharkiv. Then later this evening, many people’s favourites Germany meet Portugal in Lviv. We’ll be liveblogging both games and the first will be up on the site within the next few minutes.

Trap has confirmed what his team to play Croatia tomorrow will be and, surprise, surprise… there are no, erm, surprises. So it’s as follows:

Ireland XI to face Croatia: Given, O’Shea, Dunne, St. Ledger, Ward, Duff, Andrews ,Whelan, McGeady, Keane, Doyle

Read more here.

20 minutes have been played in Kharkiv and although Holland have bosses the early stages, Denmark have just gone one up. Catch up on how it is unfolding here.

What do you think of this effort from ‘The Neilstown Boys on Tour’?
