Results:
Welcome, fans of the beautiful game. In the early kick-off Everton lead Swansea, who are down to ten men, by two goals to nil with ten minutes left to play. We’re around 35 minutes away from the start of today’s five other games.
All the team news will be along in the next few minutes.
Make that 3-0 Everton as Marouane Fellaini has just headed home a Leighton Baines free-kick. That’s the win ensured for the Toffees.
Irish involvement worth keeping an eye on…
Starting: Joey O’Brien (West Ham) James McClean and John O’Shea (Sunderland), Damien Duff (Fulham), James McCarthy (Wigan), Ciaran Clark and Stephen Ireland (Aston Villa), Marc Wilson, Glenn Whelan and Jon Walters (Stoke), Alex Pearce (Reading).
Subs: Westwood (Sunderland), Stephen Kelly (Fulham), Shay Given (Aston Villa) Shane Long (West Brom), Noel Hunt (Reading).
Chelsea, who have left Frank Lampard and John Terry on the bench, begin strongly against Stoke at Stamford Bridge. No goals to report around the grounds after five minutes.
GOAL! West Ham 0-1 Sunderland (Steven Fletcher)
What a start the Scottish striker has had since his move from Wolves. Fletcher takes a touch from Seb Larsson’s cross and tucks a strike into the bottom corner. That’s four goals in three games for his new club.
Lampard and Terry watch on from the bench.
Ooof! Stoke come close to taking the lead after two of their Irish internationals link up. Whelan swings in a free-kick and Walters’ central run sees him make good contact and head onto the crossbar with Petr Cech beaten.
Chelsea reply with an attack which ends in Bransilav Ivanovic taking a tumble in the Stoke box. He’s taken a dive though, and Michael Oliver waves play on.
Impressive stat…
Next, Mata finds Torres with a delicate chipped pass. El Nino’s first touch is a good one but he then swipes at the ball and allows Asmir Begovic to smother.

Over at the DW Stadium, Dimitar Berbatov is having a stormer and while Fulham are in control, they have yet to convert their dominance into goals.
GOAL! Wigan 0-1 Fulham (Hugo Rodallega)
Berbatov puts it on a plate for his strike partner who scores a header against his former side to give the Cottagers a 1-0 lead.
Oscar has just made a show of former ex-Chelsea defender Robert Huth with a sublime piece of skill. The Brazilian playmaker, who scored twice against Juventus during the week, nutmegs the German with a backheeled flick before being pulled back.
GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa (Darren Bent)
The visitors are ahead at St Mary’s. Stephen Ireland attempts a volley from 18 yards but gets it wrong. Darren Bent is quickest to react, however, to redirect it past Paulo Gazzaniga in the Southampton goal.
Gave us a giggle. Ben Watson and Steve Sidwell take out referee Lee Probert before he jokingly brandishes a red card:

Half-time scores:
We’ve restarted. Surely it’s only a matter of time before one of the five home teams get off the mark.
Oscar drives into the box and, with Ryan Shawcross stretching out his leg, the Chelsea player goes to ground. Never a penalty and the Brazilian earns himself a yellow card. Possibly a little harsh considering Ivanovic didn’t get one in the first half. Where’s the consistency?
The same player has a shot saved by Begovic moments later.
Belgian striker Christian Benteke opened his Aston Villa account last week and has come close early in the second half against Southampton. Still 1-0 to the visitors there.
Alex McCarthy keeps West Brom at bay with a terrific stop from James Morrisons’ volley at the Hawthorns.
GOAL! Southampton 1-1 Aston Villa (Rickie Lambert)
A third goal of the season for the Saints’ talisman, who takes down Adam Lallana’s pass and blasts into the bottom corner.
Eden Hazard has already set the bar extremely high for himself at Chelsea, and by his standards, he’s had a quiet day. Victor Moses, making his home debut, has just replaced the Belgian.
Stoke are also readying Michael Owen.
GOAL! Southampton 2-1 Aston Villa (Nathaniel Clyne)
Former Crystal Palace defender connects with a Gaston Ramirez ball to shoot between the legs of Guzan as Southampton take the lead after being 1-0 down.
GOAL! Wigan 0-2 Fulham (Damien Duff)
Duff is the first Irish scorer in the Premier League today – his right-footed finish doubles Fulham’s lead after Mauro Boselli’s miss down the other end.
GOAL! West Brom 1-0 (Romelu Lukaku)
The on-loan Chelsea striker put the Baggies ahead with a strike from the edge of the box.
GOAL! Southampton 3-1 Aston Villa (Ciaran Clark o.g.)
Initially awarded to Jason Puncheon, Soutampton’s third has been awarded to the young Ireland defender unfortunately.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Stoke (Ashley Cole)
With six minutes to play, the European champions have finally broken the deadlock. In a well-worked move by the Pensioners, the ball is passed across Stoke’s box where Ivanovic crosses low. Mata adds on with a deft flick and Ashley Cole has continued his run and slots home.
You’ve got to feel a little for the Potters.
John Terry is on for Juan Mata as Roberto Di Matteo shuts up shop for the closing minutes. Expect plenty of long balls being lumped into the box by Stoke.
GOAL! Wigan 1-2 Fulham (Arouna Kone)
A late consolation for the Latics.
GOAL! West Ham 1-1 Sunderland (Kevin Nolan)
The Hammers grab an all-important equaliser in injury time through Mr Reliable Kevin Nolan.
GOAL! Southampton 4-1 Aston Villa (Rickie Lambert)
Lambert with his second of the day from the spot in the 95th minute after Guzan brings down Emmanuel Mayuka.
Full-time scores:
So Chelsea remain top of the table after a dramatic winner from an unlikely source. Southampton come from behind to register their first points since returning to the top flight and are now out of the relegation places.
Romelu Lukuka’s strike earns highly-flying West Brom a win as Steve Clarke maintains his great start at the Hawthorns, while Fulham hold on to move up to fourth and the Hammers rescue a late point against Sunderland.
That’s my lot but we’ll have all the Premier League talking points on the site shortly. ‘Til the next time!
