Welcome along as round two of the Allianz Football League concludes today. There were wins for Kildare and Donegal last night while the main focus for us today are the Division 1 games in Killarney between Kerry and Dublin and in Castlebar between Mayo and Tyrone.

We’ll also be keeping an eye on the action in the lower divisions. A quick update on Division 2 where the weather has already wreaked havoc with waterlogged pitches resulting in postponements to the games between Galway and Louth in Drogheda and the meeting of Armagh and Wexford in the Athletic Grounds.

But there is still action in Division 2 with Longford at home to Westmeath while Laois face the long trip to Celtic Park to meet Derry.

While in Division 3, Sligo clash with Antrim in Markievicz Park and Wicklow entertain Meath in Aughrim.

Finally in Division 4 today, we have battles between Offaly and Limerick in Tullamore while Leitrim entertain Clare in Carrick-on-Shannon.

There is also hurling action that we’ll be keeping an eye on today. In Enniscorthy, Wexford host Dublin in the Walsh Cup final. While in Croke Park, the All-Ireland JHC club final sees Kilkenny’s Thomastown meet Fullen Gaels of Manchester at 3.45pm. Before that the All-Ireland IHC club final is a clash between St Gabriel’s (London) and Clara of Kilkenny.

A quick recap on yesterday’s GAA action now.

Kerry are rapidly becoming a joke under their new manager. How was given the job. He played with many of the squad which was never going to work. No track record of management/coaching at an elite level. Absolute farce. Team on a massive slippery slope an a return to the dark days of of ’87 to ’96. Very impressed with Dublin.

Two disappointing results David, but I wouldn’t go writing off your namesake just yet. He’s got nothing like the quality of young talent Jim Gavin has available to him and will be hugely dependent on some of the more experienced players who aren’t available at the moment. Throw Brosnan, Gooch, Kieran O’Leary, Declan O’Sullivan, Paul Galvin and Kieran Donaghy into a starting Kerry team and they’d be just as strong as Dublin. Once those guys are back, Kerry’ll win a few games in the league and avoid the drop. After that, who knows…

Discopants. Fair point. Gooch is the only player who can add something to the group of players we have. The others named have either too many miles on the clock or have been tried and tested and have failed. The case for Donaghy is that he shouldn’t be on the panel as he hasn’t played well since 2007. Fact !!! Bringing him out to midfield is only giving him further opportunity based on reputation. I suppose I’m being realistically pessimistic :)

Declan O’Sullivan was Kerry’s best player in the Qualifier against Tyrone last year. Admittedly, Donaghy hasn’t been at his best for a while but’s he’s still capable of putting in a performance like he did in the 2011 All-Ireland final. Paul Galvin in still one of the best wing-forwards out there. Also, if Brosnan plays anywhere near he has been with Crokes he’ll make a huge difference to the defence. The big problem for Kerry is that the guys coming in simply aren’t up to the standard, with the possible exception of James O’Donoghue. The rest seem way off.

@CorkKunts: Neither Donaghy nor Dec O’Sullivan started today. Donaghy is just back from his honeymoon and O’Sullivan back after a break. Just give Fitzmaurice a bit more time would be my take on it. No need for panic in February.
