Drogheda United 0 – 0 Dundalk
St Patrick’s Athletic 1 – 1 Monaghan United
Sligo Rovers 1 – 0 Bohemians
UCD 2 – 3 Bray Wanderers

18.57 – Good evening, we are still around 10 minutes away from kick off here on Leeside, but it’s shaping up to be a good ‘un.
Before we get into full swing you still have time to check out all the team news and Niall Kelly’s weekly column, helpfull displayed in the links at the bottom.
19.05 – Right oh, the team sheets are now at hand just in time for kick off.
Cork City: McNulty, Turner, D.Murphy , Kavanagh, Morrissey, O’Neill, Sullivan, O’Connor, Dunleavy, Murray, Horgan.
Subs: Healy, Purcell, Spillane , Lordan, J.Murphy, Burns, J.Kavanagh.
Shamrock Rovers: Jansson , Gilbert , Powell, Sives , Oman, Finn , Rice, Brennan, Twigg , O’Neill, Dennehy.
Subs: Gartland, Greene, Turner, Kavanagh, McCormack, Gannon, Stacey.
19.08 – Kick off, both teams line out in their away kits as Neil Doyle felt any other combination of kits would be clashing.
Black v red it is, then.
19.12 – Dennehy is welcomed by a solid wall of booing as he goes on a piercing dribble down the left, it all comes to nothing to the great pleasure of the home support.
19.15 – Nicely worked move there from the visitors. Dennehy fed a ball to Twigg on the edge of the box and his lay off was met with a curling shot from Gary O’Neill.
McNulty got down well to save and hold on.
19.20 – Remember, we’ll bring you all the goal updates from the rest of tonight’s games.
Five of them kick off at 7.45, Shelbourne v Derry will not get underway until 8.oo
19.22 – Dangerous in-swinging corner from Rovers there, it’s glanced just wide of the bottom left corner by Ken Oman’s header.
19.24 – We’re 15 minutes in and Rovers will be pleased at their start. Cillian Brennan had their latest chance – a 25 yard free kick curled harmlessly wide.
19.29 – City had showed some early promise on the counter attack, but at present cannot find a route out of their own half.
Seems only a matter of time before Rovers earn the lead.
19.34 – Oh, Brennan was not happy with that one. Drifting on the right wing he tried to sidestep Murphy’s challenge but was stopped dead in his tracks by a perfect challenge.
The winger looked to chase down the fullback and seemed intent on leaving a late challenge on Murphy, but resisted.
A minute later, he is penalised for a high boot.
Far too early for the Champions to look as frustrated as Brennan does now.
19.40 – City warming to the task here.
Brennan is again in the thick of things wining a 50-50 tackle against Murphy, before flinging himself to the ground and winning a free kick to ease a little pressure off his defence.
19.44 – 10 minutes left in the first half here and we’ve hit a bit of a lull as the champions try to reset the tempo at their own pace.
The other fixtures should be kicking off right about…. now.
19.47 – Another attack broken up by Dunleavy. Brennan raced down the right and picked out Twigg coming short, but the midfielder was instantly on his case and robustly took the ball from the Hoops’ number nine.
19.52 – City go close to grabbing a lead before the break. Good work from Horgan on the edge of the box kept the ball alive.
As Turner whipped a cross back into the danger zone Craig Sives found the ball bouncing off his hip and towards the bottom corner of his own goal. Tipped away.
The City crowd were soon appealing for a penalty, but they were even more excited a moment late when Shane O’Conner’s effort flashed across goal.
The hosts don’t want half time, but there it is.
19.54 – Half time here but big news in Inchicore:
Goal for Monaghan. Conor Murphy after three minutes.
20.03 – That didn’t take long…
GOAL: St Patrick’s equalise through Dean Kelly.
20.08 – The second half has just gotten underway here at Turners Cross.
20.13 – Nice move from Rovers down the left.
Dennehy breaks in off the left and dribbles toward goal, he links back with Brennan, overlapping him on the left.
The chipped cross is headed clear by Dan Murray.
20.16 – Horgan’s long diagonal very nearly fell nicely for Sullivan, but Sives managed to head the bnall straight up and take control at the second attempt.
Brennan has moved into a central role for Rovers leaving Kerrea Gilbert to patrol the right flank on his own.
20.19 – Oskar Janssen forced to come off his line to deny Horgan, whose touch just let him down as the chance came his way.
20.23 – We reach the hour mark and the atmosphere is only getting hotter. Corner to Cork.
20.26 – GOAL: Gavin Kavanagh takes a pot-shot from 30 yards.
20.28 – Gavin Kavanagh’s shot looked harmless, but it dipped sharply into the turf a meter in front of Janssen and the the ‘keeper failed to react as it bounced back up and over his shoulder.
He’ll be majorly disappointed with that one.
20.32 – Shane O’Connor is withdrawn for City. Colin Healy is introduced as Cork bid to park the bus.
20.35 – GOAL: Bray took the lead at UCD, but a Graham Rusk penalty has since squared matters at Belfield.
20.37 – Killian Brennan is hauled off by Stephen Kenny, he has a big scowl on his face as Daryl Kavanagh comes on to take his place.
20.41 – RED CARD: Conor Powell is off and Rovers are down to 10 men.
20.41 – Another change for each side.
For Rovers, Stephen Rice off for Chris Turner while Tadgh Purcell replaces Gavin O’Neill.
More experienced heads called upon for the home side, no change in formation from either side yet.
20.49 – 10 minutes to go here and that looked harsh on Powell, Morrissey was at full stretch for a ball when Powell’s tackle came in only slightly late.
Substitute, Chris Turner was close to an improvised equaliser after McNulty put a weak punch on a long hopeful free kick from Gilbert.
20.49 – Five minutes remain now and Rovers are pushing forward but cannot build up any head of steam.
20.51 – Lovely play from Greene on the left flank and the pressure is finally starting to build. Corner to rovers but it’s badly over-hit by Dennehy and City have a throw in to take them back over halfway.
20.54 – Elsewhere, the second half’s are just getting under way. Shels are just hitting half time, they are a goal up against the candystripes.
20.53 – So close to an equaliser, Twigg leaps at the edge of the area, heading into the path of Dennehy.
Right of the goal he opens up and volleys with his left foot, but it goes across goal and wide.
20.55 – City have relieved the pressure and are holding possession in stoppage time.
Two minutes to go.
20.58 – Jansson is up for the corner. It’s cleared at the first attempt, but as it is pumped back in ..
GOAL: Gary Twigg heads the 94th minute equaliser.
20.57 – More good wing play, Daryl Kavanagh makes space for Gilber to cross, headed away by Murray.
Corner to Rovers….
21.00 – Full time here at Turners Cross.
The champions could not have left it any later to snatch a point from a game they dominated, but could never make any clear-cut chances. Until the 94th minute when Gary Twigg broke his duck on Leeside.
21.06 – ‘That’s why we’re champions’ the away fans sing. You can’t argue with them on that.
Gavin Kavanagh was awarded man of the match and he admitted to RTE post match, that the draw felt like a defeat.
“Just a lack of concentration there at the end,” said the crestfallen defender, “we’re disappointed to concede that right at the end.”
that’s what (Twigg) is about isn’t it. He’s all over the box and just scores all his goals from inside the box.”
21.09 – That’s it from me, but be sure to check back for score updates as each premier division fixture nears the finish.
Good night, and have a Happy St. Patricks Day.
