Judo World Cup gold for Kearney while Thompson and Fleming also medal

It’s been a profitable trip to Mauritius for Irish Judoka.

IRISH JUDO CLAIMED three medals including gold for Lisa Kearney at the World Cup event in Mauritius today.

Kearney claimed her gold in the 52 kilogram weight division with a win over Great Britain’s Louise Renicks.

Home favourite Christianne Legentil and Gabon’s Christine Ada Kara picked up bronze.

In the men’s competition, Eoin Fleming and Caoimhin Thompson were both vying for the same medal in the 73 kg division.

However, after Fleming bowed out at the semi-final stage, Thompson was stopped in the final by Ghanaian Emmanuel Nartey.
