LIONEL MESSI EQUALLED Raul’s Champions League goalscoring record last night with a brace against Ajax.

Once again, the Argentine proved the difference as Barcelona ran out 2-0 winners

The double moves him onto 71 goals in 90 tournament games – one ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The top-5 list is:

Lionel Messi – 71 goals in 90 gamesRaul – 71 goals in 142 games

Cristiano Ronaldo – 70 goals in 107 games

Ruud van Nistelrooy – 56 goals in 73 games

Thierry Henry – 50 goals in 112 games

    For me the only striker to come close to Messi’s scoring feats is one Bernie Slaven.

    Hes like roberto carlos. Takes every free kick and his success rate is poor. I wonder what sort of record pirlo or juninho had

    I doubt they scored from every free kick either. Here’s the difference, Juninho and Pirlo are best known for their free kicks, Juninho moreso. Messi on the other hand is not, because he scores way too many goals from play. He’s too good to be judged purely on his free kicks.
