Life after Fenlon: Bohs appoint Callaghan as their new manager

Bohemians continue their preparations for 2012 with the appointment of Aaron Callaghan as their new first-team boss.

AARON CALLAGHAN IS the latest man to fill the managerial hot seat at Dalymount Park, Bohemians have confirmed.

The 45-year-old has previously been involved with Crusaders, Athlone Town, Longford Town and UCD and, most recently, was first-team coach at St. Pat’s. He replaces Dubliner Pat Fenlon, who left the Dublin club to take over at Hibernian in November.

Bohs’ financial woes have been well documented in recent years and having reached agreement to restructure the bulk of their outstanding debt earlier this month, Callaghan is charged with putting together a squad for the coming season.

A statement from the club said that the new manager would bring “a strong commitment to the highest coaching standards” to the club and confirmed that he will start in his new role next week.

“We are delighted to have secured a manager in good time for the start of the new season,” Bohemian FC president Chris Brien said.

“Aaron Callaghan has strong knowledge of the League of Ireland and will bring broad experience to the job. We welcome him to the club and we are sure our supporters will wish him well.”

Callaghan’s appointment follows news earlier this week that Stephen Kenny is take over the reins at Shamrock Rovers, following the departure of Michael O’Neill.

Bohs kick off their next season in February – taking part in the Setanta Sports Cup before travelling to Derry on March 2nd for their opening league fixture.
