ULSTER’S INTERIM DIRECTOR of rugby Les Kiss will return his focus to Ireland’s national team next month.
According to a report from the BBC today, the northern province hope to have made an announcement regarding their new head coach before Kiss departs to pick up where he left off as assistant to Joe Schmidt.
Kiss was appointed to the role after the departures of both director of rugby David Humphreys and head coach Mark Anscombe during the summer.
While many Ulster fans had hoped that Kiss might stay on on a permanent basis, the BBC say the province were fully aware of the time-frame of Kiss’ availability when he was appointed.
Calls from TheScore.ie went unanswered by the province this morning. However, since the Australian arrived at Kingspan Stadium he appears to have fulfilled his remit of steadying the ship while the coaching structure was under review.
In his time there, the province have appointed Allen Clarke as the new forwards coach while Jonny Bell (defence) and Neil Doak (backs) remain key players in the coaching setup.
