A HOST OF LEINSTER and Ireland rugby stars headed along to Donnybrook this evening to cheer on two sides taking part in a fundraiser in aid of a young man who was paralysed from the chest down in 2012.
Fresh from their Six Nations win at the weekend, Rob Kearney, Ian Madigan, Fergus McFadden, Gordon D’Arcy and Jordi Murphy were on hand at the charity match between combined XVs from Leinster’s Jesuit and Holy Ghost schools.
All money raised from the event is going towards the Jack Kavanagh Trust. Kavanagh was a promising rugby player before breaking his neck a little over two years ago. He became paralysed in the process but has kept up his third level studies and his keen interest in rugby.
The Six Nations-winning quintet were not the only Leinster stars on show as established names such as Sean O’Brien, Dominic Ryan, Brendan Macken, John Cooney, Luke McGrath, Luke Fitzgerald, Noel Reid and Kevin McLaughlin also watched the match, which was refereed by Alain Rolland.
Kearney had the honour of kicking off the contest, which was claimed 20-17 by the Jesuit Schools XV.
