Leinster v Munster confirmed for the Aviva

Matt O’Connor’s side will get their chance for revenge at the national stadium in March.

THE RABODIRECT PRO12 has confirmed that Leinster and Munster will face off at the Aviva Stadium for their round 18 clash at the end of March.

The change of venue was completely expected, and the inter-provincial derby in the capital has become one of the focal points of the rugby calendar for Irish rugby supporters.

Leinster will be looking for revenge at the Aviva, having lost 19-15 to Munster at Thomond Park last weekend, their first defeat to Rob Penney’s men in five games. In truth, the home side could have won the game by more, with Leinster looking strangely lacking in attacking edge.

Last season, 46,280 people turned out to watch the fixture in Dublin, although the sight of empty seats in Limerick on Saturday night will cause some worry to Leinster’s hopes of selling-out the 50,000-capacity stadium on Lansdowne Road. Ticket prices may be the key to ensuring that the clash with Munster is viewed by a full house.

The Pro12 encounter will take place on March 28th, 29th or 30th, with the exact date and kick-off time to be confirmed.

Is moving the game to the Aviva a good idea? Will the game sell-out or will we have a repeat of the empty seats at Thomond Park last weekend? Leave your views in the comments section below.
