WINGER SAM COGHLAN-MURRAY was the try-scoring star for Leinster A as they thrashed Leeds Carnegie 44-17 at Donnybrook.
Leinster were 6-0 up after two Cathal Marsh penalties in the opening 12 minutes. Coghlan-Murray got over for his first try after 15 minutes and Marsh landed a fine conversion.
The Leeds responses came in the paltry form of a John Bentley penalty before Leinster’s Luke McGrath stretched his side’s lead with a line-break and score. Coghlan-Murray added his second after the break and, with Marsh converting, the lead was 27-3.
Marsh knocked over a penalty before Darragh Fanning steamed through to the delight of the home support. Leeds registered two quick tries to give them a glimmer of hope that was stamped upon as Brendan Macken intercepted outside his 22 and sprinted in his team’s fifth try.
