Lazio 0-0 Spurs

TOTTENHAM COULD ONLY draw 0-0 in Rome tonight.

While their opponents Lazio qualify, Spurs have to gain a point in their final game at home to Panathinaikos, who trail the Londoners by two points.

Former England star Paul Gascoigne, who played for both clubs with distinction, was close to tears as he received an ovation on attending the game in the Italian capital.

Lazio fans hailed him as a "lionheart" and "still our hero" on his return to the city where he spent three seasons.

Gareth Bale had the ball in the back of the net after five minutes but was wrongly ruled offside by the referee’s assistant.

The home side then took control and would have been ahead but for the brilliance of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham: Lloris, Walker, Caulker, Vertonghen, Naughton, Sigurdsson (Lennon 63), Sandro, Carroll (Dembele 76), Bale, Dempsey (Defoe 63), Adebayor. Subs: Cudicini, Huddlestone, Dawson, Livermore.

Spurs are not playing well at the moment but in the two fixtures with lazio in this competition SPURS have had 3 perfectly good goals disallowed which has robbed them of 4 points and automatic qualification for the next round.

Spurs may well win at home against Panatanks but if they dont those dis allowed goals will become a big talking point!

Adebayor’s performance tonight was woeful. Cost Spurs a point and maybe more last weekend and seems to be just going through the motions.
