Laois appoint Ó Flatharta as football manager

Ó Flatharta agrees three-year deal to succeed Justin McNulty.

TOMÁS Ó FLATHARTA has been appointed as the Laois senior football manager.

The former Galway boss was ratified without opposition at last night’s county board meeting.

Ó Flatharta replaces Justin McNulty, whose three-year term came to an end this summer.

Speaking following the appointment, county chairman Gerry Kavanagh told delegates that he was “very confident that we have gotten the right man for the job.”

Ó Flatharta has agreed a three-year deal, although his position will be subject to review at the end of each season.

Coach Jerome Stack and selectors Fergal Byron and Noel Garvan have been confirmed as his backroom team.

Stack was involved with the Dromcollogher Broadford side which won the Limerick SFC title last weekend while Byron and Garvan were both part of Laois’s Leinster championship-winning side in 2003.
