Like I said its my opinion. I’ve been told that by both Irish that lived there and Aussies I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Also it’s been well publicized in the media, maybe not there but in the Irish media. I’m not gonna get into a pissing contest with you about it, you have your views I have mine. So when you make a statement based on hearsay and conjecture its a “fact”, when I make one based on real first hand experiences its an opinion!?

Haha well put. From conversations with many people that have lived there and still do, they tell me that the Irish have gotten a bad rep because of these young guys and girls causing a ruckus. Maybe you’re one of them? Either way I’m standing up for the Irish and to hell with the land of convicts!!

Nope, I haven’t been in a fight or caused any trouble here. I think most of the trouble makers go to Perth, which I have no plans of doing. Most of the trouble makers I’ve seen have either been English or Australian. Aussies like to use foreigners as scapegoats for all of their county’s ills, be it backpackers in general or “boat people”, but I haven’t experienced any negative comments about the Irish. Most Aussies like the Irish as we have a similar attitude to life – work hard and play hard.

Anyway, Australia really is a beautiful place with so much to see, especially outside the large cities, you really should go for a visit some time if you get a chance :-)

Its very easy to make opinions about people based on what others say. Its far more fun and enriching to go out and meet new people and cultures and experience the world for yourself, but it does require getting up off your arse and out of your comfort zone, so proves too much effort for many people. Their loss.
