LAMONT PETERSON SAYS he’s ready to defends his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles against British challenger Amir Khan in a rematch of their disputed fight last year.
Khan lost both titles in a controversial split decision defeat in Peterson’s hometown of Washington DC on December 10. The Briton was docked two points by the referee for pushing and afterwards questioned the presence of a ‘mystery man’ at ringside, next to the judges’ supervisor.
The fight rematch will take place on May 19 in Las Vegas.
Peterson says Khan’s complaints took the shine off his victory and his opponent “has to accept he’s not the champ anymore.”
