Castlehaven, Dr Crokes and Corofin amongst the teams in 2014 Kilmacud Football Sevens

THE TRADITIONAL BUILD-UP to the All-Ireland senior football final will take place tomorrow with the 42nd running of the FBD Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland senior football sevens.

The action throws in tomorrow morning with the opening matches in the eight groups at 11am. The winner of each group will qualify for the knock-out stages of the competition which are all pencilled in for the Kilmacud Crokes club grounds in Glenalbyn.

Previous sevens champions in action include St Gall’s, Bryansford, Corofin, Kilmacud Crokes and Tuam Stars. Last year Corofin won the final against St Gall’s.

There are also five reigning county champions featuring in Cork’s Castlehaven, Kerry’s Dr Crokes, Antrim’s St Gall’s, Galway’s Corofin and Longford outfit Longford Slashers.

Here’s the full lowdown of the teams that are in action:

Group 1: Dr Crokes (Kerry), Tuam Stars (Galway), Emo (Laois), Ballyholland Harps (Down) – Venue: Glenalbyn.

Group 2: Parnell’s (London), Clonduff (Down), Blessington (Wicklow), Kilmacud Crokes 2 (Dublin) – Venue: Glenalbyn.

Group 3: Naomh Olaf (Dublin), Ardara (Donegal), Castletown Liam Mellows (Wexford), Milltown (Galway) – Venue: St Olaf’s.

Group 4: St Gall’s (Antrim), Erins Own Lavery (Derry), Arles Kilcruise (Laois), Kilkerrin Clonberne (Galway) – Venue: St Olaf’s.

Group 5: Corofin (Galway), Errigal Ciaran (Tyrone), St Laurence’s (Kildare), Clashmore-Kinsalebeg (Waterford) – Venue: Silverpark.

Group 6: Longford Slashers (Longford), Dromore (Tyrone), Caherlistrane (Galway), St Patrick’s Donagh (Fermanagh) – Venue: Silverpark.

Group 7: Rathmore (Kerry), Carryduff (Down), Naas (Kildare), Bryansford (Down) – Venue: Silverpark.

Group 8: Kilmacud Crokes 1 (Dublin), Monaghan Harps (Monaghan), Castlehaven (Cork), Rostrevor (Down) – Venue: Silverpark.
