Where do you get the idea Joe that Waterford doesn’t have a train station? The Waterford/Kilkenny border is well beyond the station. The River Suir isn’t the border. Google maps would help you out there.
How come some Kilkenny people have such a chip on their shoulder about Waterford? We have beaten ye in 1 important hurling match in 50 years & that was just a league final. Waterford City is full of 1000′s of Kilkenny people everyday working, shopping & socialising. If it is as bad as ye seem to think then how come Waterford is so full of KK people??
What facts are there that Kilkenny is not a city.. Pls don’t come back and say that’s your opinion.
It’s recognised as a city through your google maps or is that not good enough proof for you..
Well if Waterford is classed as a city Kilkenny is definitely a city. Waterford City is awful and they are brutal at both hurling and football!!! I’d rather be brilliant at one than brutal at both!!
Indeed Google maps does show where border is and it’s not “well beyond” the station it come up right behind it, this was not always the case as a number of years ago it was moved. It currently goes down middle of the river then moves up past back of station through what was Jury’s cuts through Ferrybank ( one half in Kilkenny other is Waterford ) then goes back to follow middle of the river again. The map also shows Waterford port and Waterford golf club in Kilkenny. Facts are Facts no chip on shoulder here :)
Not sure why KK people wound have a chip on their shoulder about Waterford I don’t and i don’t know anyone who does they are just proud of where they come from and like the banter when it comes to hurling. Yes Waterford is full of Kilkenny people and Wexford, Tipperary and Cork people and the same banter comes from them when you think about it. Only thing that gets people going is bring told to go back over the bridge when banter gets to much for them or the classic ” coming over here taking our jobs” ;)
Local government act 2001 states that there are 5 cities in the Rep of Ireland. Dublin. Cork. Galway. Limerick & Waterford. Historical cities such as Tuam, Wexford & Lismore are allowed use the name but are not cities. I only responded to this article to correct the mis-information that Waterford railway station was in Co Kilkenny.
It’s in Waterford of course…now. I was pointing out that the border is not way beyond the station and that half of Ferrybank is in Kilkenny as per Google maps…and all other maps.
Why would Kilkenny want to claim the train station or Ferrybank?? They are both horrible places, Waterford can have them and we will keep the hurlers thanks!!

What are you talking about!! You plan the following year outing as soon as the whistle blows in Croke Park. I have left All Irelands discussing the plans for the next one
Only kilkenny can do that and get away with it haha
24: When you beat a team you have to hear the usual whinging from their supporters and the media about how “physical” Kilkenny were and how much they got away with instead of people just accepting Kilkenny were the better team and move on with their lives!
How come they left out the bit about being the most useless supporters in Ireland whose main aim – as one told me at an all Ireland final – was to “beat the traffic after 60minutes”!!! And the bit about participating properly in both codes and not one?
Number 27! Will Kilkenny ever get over the fact lar Corbett scored 3 goals against them and Tipperary beat them in the 2010 all Ireland subsequently stopping them winning 5 in a row?
Check again steve and you’ll see we have . The 2010 All Ireland where Lar Corbett scored 3 goals and stopped kk winning 5 in a row was as Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh the greatest all Ireland he’d ever seen…..just saying

You work in Waterford, and say ya own Waterford train station.
And you know waterford port is in kilkenny and all rates go to kilkenny council
yes Waterford is the only city that has no Train station,,,, Fact
Most Kilkenny people actually believe that Kilkenny really is a city :) god bless them.
Where do you get the idea Joe that Waterford doesn’t have a train station? The Waterford/Kilkenny border is well beyond the station. The River Suir isn’t the border. Google maps would help you out there.

No it’s not. Ferrybank is part of Waterford city. I don’t know where you are getting your facts from but they are wrong. http://www.ferrybank.ie
ohhh look who has a chip on his shoulder,,, ha ha

Exactly Loughlin. Behind the station. So is the station in Kilkenny or Waterford?
It’s in Waterford of course…now. I was pointing out that the border is not way beyond the station and that half of Ferrybank is in Kilkenny as per Google maps…and all other maps.

You really have something sticking out of your head there Stevie me boy !!if i was you id get it checked out
@ Thomas Francis meagher , we know from your comments on Israel and Palestine that your not great at reading maps or defining borders
HAHAHAH.Your talking though your hole.Shur in 2009 Kilkenny celebrated its 400th year as a city.
Do you have a brian at all!!!

Cody is a legend and NOBODY can deny that regardless of what jersey they wear!
A legend with the best players, Bosco could win all Ireland’s with the teams he’s had
Have trouble picking up a football??:-)
A what?
That round thingy made of leather
ah my gimp mask
A sliothar is technically a roundy thing made of leather.
A what.?
That round thingy made of leather.
Do you mean Hugo’s gimp mask?
No his leather love beads
Woe woe woe joe!
You’re ginger with a face like a spanked arse
Ya good one, pussy
Number one sign your a kilkenny hurling fan is you don’t want anyone else to win the
Hurling All Ireland – ever.
You don’t even consider the possibility of anyone else winning
But if they do!
You leave graciously! :D
NO NO.I would like to see limerick, waterford or even poor mayo inda football to win and im from Kilkenny.
Im only 15 so nearly all my memory has been of them winning. Some dose when we don’t.This year would just make us more hungry for it next year.
Nice to see a change in the championship this year, good for hurling too
Number 4: This kid played Tipperary in the primary game before the league final on his own…. Kilkenny won.
You have no actual interest in hurling you only watch it when Kilkenny are playing…..
5 in a row me hole :)
A few 3 in a rows a four in a row 11 all Ireland’s in 13 years not to bad all the same.
You would probably like to see your county win a one in a row!
Been trying for years to get our camoige girls In Wexford to mate with a few Kilkenny lads to develop a new super breed of hurler to help bring Liam back slaneyside
23 You start every January by planning annual leave around the Monday after the 3rd last Sunday in September and booking a room in City West!
What are you talking about!! You plan the following year outing as soon as the whistle blows in Croke Park. I have left All Irelands discussing the plans for the next one
Only kilkenny can do that and get away with it haha
Agree!! :-)
Why because you are going to the Football All-Ireland Final?? Not the hurling anyway on that date!!
Where were all the killkenny fans in the 70s and 80s Stevie yer a bit like the munster rugby fan!! Just big ould band wagon!
The gods chose a county…. Kilkenny ….. Go forth and the rest will follow… But …. They will always be 2nd best …..
Red thumbs are tipp supporters ha ha ha 2nd best…..
24: When you beat a team you have to hear the usual whinging from their supporters and the media about how “physical” Kilkenny were and how much they got away with instead of people just accepting Kilkenny were the better team and move on with their lives!
That young lad in number 4 is friends with my son and his definitely one to look out for, brilliant little hurler
Thanks Helena.. We won’t tell him that yet tho.. Can’t be letting him get a big noggin for himself ;)
25: Tommy Walsh is blamed for every foul in a game by the opposition supporters
Even if he’s not playing..
Poor Tommy!
When a child cries in Kilkenny they are given daddies All Ireland medals to play with rather than the usual rattle.
I never got them :( i feel so deprived :(
27: The usual shite is spouted out about how Kilkenny only participate in one code
Im sure if you thought about it long enough stevie youd be able to make yourself believe otherwise im sure.
Your Dublin-born husband almost played for the KK football team because everyone good was at training!
C’mon Kilkenny!!!
I’m from Kilkenny and I don’t like hurling. Bite me.
Cody could be reading this or Tommy Walsh. Just saying
Doubtful
Do you know how they separate the men from the boys in kilkenny . With a crow bar !!!!
How come they left out the bit about being the most useless supporters in Ireland whose main aim – as one told me at an all Ireland final – was to “beat the traffic after 60minutes”!!! And the bit about participating properly in both codes and not one?
Per capita Kilkenny have the best support in hurling.
Jason, define “participate properly” please. And how many counties “participate properly” in hurling?
Clearly participate properly means behaving like an animal.
Whats wrong with ‘atin’ a few hang sandwiches with a flask of ‘tae’ and beatin the traffic! It just shows experience if you ask me ;)
Number 27! Will Kilkenny ever get over the fact lar Corbett scored 3 goals against them and Tipperary beat them in the 2010 all Ireland subsequently stopping them winning 5 in a row?
Will Tipp ever get over the hurdle of winning two All-Ireland’s in the one decade?
Ooooh burn!!!!!
Certainly will Steve! Always the future! :)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.Classic.
Best comeback I have ever seen
26 Unable to cope with the shock when trashed by Galway in the Leinster Final while not even at the match and only attending all Ireland finals
I thought we coped pretty well last September Eugene!
Poor Eugene doesn’t understand!!
Check again steve and you’ll see we have . The 2010 All Ireland where Lar Corbett scored 3 goals and stopped kk winning 5 in a row was as Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh the greatest all Ireland he’d ever seen…..just saying
And your point is what exactly Philip?
So you would prefer to win one great All-Ireland than win a bucket load of them? I know what I, Kilkenny supporters, Kilkenny players, normal Tipp supporters and Tipp players would prefer!
I thought the 2008 All-Ireland was the greatest I’ve ever seen for pure hurling from the greatest team of all time. Kilkenny were classed as the greatest team of all time back then and have won another 3 All-Ireland’s and counting since then. An achievement that will never be beaten (well Kilkenny might beat it in the future)
Your normal????
Was Peter Collins an undercover ref in the Darren O’ Neill fight?
Ah sure Steve As a Tipp man I’d love to see Tipp win more but 1 great one will have to do us until we have hurlers better than ye have !
you believe the first job a corner back has to do is get himself booked in the first ten minutes by shouldering an incoming forward into the chest just like Jackie Tyrell
show him whos boss!!
