not missing a single international for over an entire decade between 1999-2011 is an amazing achievement. While his preferred position was wing, he also played full back and centre mid plenty times and even centre half and emergency striker when mccarthy was stuck.
When he wasn’t getting many games in his last year at everton and so wasn’t getting the opportunities to put himself in the shop window for a move, he credited his international career with saving his premiership career when wigan came in for him based on his performances for ireland. (I know this should really just be about thanking Kilbane and wishing him well, …..but, stephen ireland take note.)

110 international caps. Congrats and good luck

Saw his debut for Ireland and he was all power and speed. Learned how to be a very good footballer.
He could teach 99% of the rest of us about attitude. He also seems to be a very nice modest guy.
    Not a bad combination

more Forrest Gump that zidane. the lad could run and run and run but couldn’t cross for peanuts. You can’t knock his enthusiasm but his effectiveness can only be measured in how distracting he was for opponents to allow his teammates play football.
