AFTER ENDURING ANOTHER frustrating summer in the transfer market, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has confronted critics of his transfer policy.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the theatre impresario claimed that the burden of responsibility for his club’s failure to secure any new signings lay squarely with the Merseysider’s bank:
“We’ve come to a stage with our bank with our finance where we just can’t borrow any more… what we do is we beg and borrow from the bank. That’s what we’ve been doing.
“We knew we had to trade… We’ve not been able to trade yet and that’s the reason that we’ve not bought in a new player.”
Everton are due to open their Premier League campaign this weekend against newly-promoted QPR.
