TADHG KENNELLY’S FUTURE with the Sydney Swans is in doubt after he was dropped by coach John Longmire, with rumours that the Kerryman could be contemplating retirement.
Fox Sports report that Kennelly has been off form in recent weeks and this has prompted Longmire to leave him out of the crucial AFL clash with St. Kilda on Sunday.
The 30-year-old becomes the first high profile axing of Longmire’s time in charge and is evidence that reputations mean little to the side’s new boss.
Defender Kennelly has yet to sign anything for next year amid talk that he could be set for a coaching or media role. Longmire, however, insists that the demotion of the former Kingdom star is not necessarily the end of his career in Australian Rules.
“We’ve been probably discussing it for a few weeks in regards to trying to get Tadhg to play his best footy,” said Longmire.
“Sometimes the best way is to go back and play reserves footy and get a bit of confidence and touch doing it that way.”
