KELLY PROPER WAS the star of day one at the GloHealth Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium.
The Ferrybank AC athlete retained her national long jump and 200m titles. Her 6.27m jump was enough to claim her seventh national crown. Proper is not finished yet — she will line up in this afternoon’s 100m Hurdles, an event she has regularly performed well in.
The glory was shared in the Men’s 200m as David Hynes and Eanna Madden both crossed the line in a time of 21.68. Fionnuala Britton saw off the challenge of Maria McCambridge and Ann Marie McGlynn to win the Women’s 5,000m.

There were also wins for Michael Clohisey (10,000m Men), Sarah Treacy (3,000m Steeplechase), Sinead Burke (5k walk), Zoe Brown (Pole Vault), Sean Breathnach (Shot Put), Liam ZamelpPaez (High Jump), Dennis Finnegan (Triple Jump), Cara Kennedy (Women’s Hammer Throw) and Anita Fitzgibbon (Javelin).
