Long Time Coming

Keith Long is the new Bohemians manager

The former Athlone boss is on his way to Dalymount.

BOHEMIANS HAVEN’T WAITED too long to replace Owen Heary.

Former Athlone Town manager Keith Long has been appointed as Gypsies boss, the club confirmed this morning.

“Keith is a young and ambitious manager who matches well the ethos at Bohemian Football Club and will help develop it,” club president Matt Devaney said.

Long replaced Mick Cooke after Athlone’s disastrous start to the 2014 season but the Midlands club narrowly failed to avoid relegation on the final day of the season.

Previously he managed Bray Wanderers under Director of Football Pat Devlin while he also won league titles during his playing days with both Dundalk and St Pat’s.

His appointment follows the departure of club legend Heary who has taken over at Sligo Rovers.

Long said: “I am delighted to be taking over as manager of Bohemian FC and I am very much looking forward to working at this great football club.

“Preparations for next season will begin immediately and we will endeavour to build on the progress made this year.”
