Keegan Bradley adds to Irish Open's major pedigree

Organisers have confirmed that USPGA champ Keegan Bradley will play at next month’s Irish Open in Royal Portrush.

REIGNING USPGA CHAMPION Keegan Bradley has confirmed that he will tee up at next month’s Irish Open in Royal Portrush.

The American becomes the third major holder in the tournament field, joining US Open winner Rory McIlroy and British Open champion Darren Clarke in County Antrim from 28 June – 1 July.

It will be a first appearance in Europe for Bradley, 25, who was born in Vermont but has ancestral links to Cork through his great-grandparents.

“I’m very proud of my Irish heritage and I’ve wanted to represent them in the Irish national championship,” he revealed.

Also, Graeme (McDowell) and Darren both have told me what a fabulous layout Portrush is, so I’m doubly excited about the opportunity to compete there.

Bradley became only the third golfer to win on his major debut last August when he beat Jason Dufner in a play-off for the PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
