Keane set to take charge at Leicester - report

Martin O’Neill is believed to have recommended the ex-Ipswich boss for the position.

ROY KEANE WILL replace Sven Goran Eriksson as manager of Leicester after Martin O’Neill recommended him for the position, according to the Daily Mail.

O’Neill was initially offered the chance to return to the club he managed between 1995 and 2000, but turned down the club’s Thai-based owners.

Keane has been out of work since resigning from his position at Ipswich last January.

The Corkonian, in addition to working as a pundit for Sky TV, has recently been linked with the vacant Iceland job – a position which eventually went to ex-Sweden boss Lars Lagerback.

Keane previously had a spell in charge of Sunderland, helping the club to win the Championship during his first season in charge, before leaving after clashing with the club’s American owner, Ellis Short.

Despite sacking Eriksson following a disappointing start to the season, the Foxes recovered to beat Burnley 3-1 in their most recent home game.
