Keane set to take charge at Leicester - report

Martin O’Neill is believed to have recommended the ex-Ipswich boss for the position.

ROY KEANE WILL replace Sven Goran Eriksson as manager of Leicester after Martin O’Neill recommended him for the position, according to the Daily Mail.

O’Neill was initially offered the chance to return to the club he managed between 1995 and 2000, but turned down the club’s Thai-based owners.

Keane has been out of work since resigning from his position at Ipswich last January.

The Corkonian, in addition to working as a pundit for Sky TV, has recently been linked with the vacant Iceland job – a position which eventually went to ex-Sweden boss Lars Lagerback.

Keane previously had a spell in charge of Sunderland, helping the club to win the Championship during his first season in charge, before leaving after clashing with the club’s American owner, Ellis Short.

Despite sacking Eriksson following a disappointing start to the season, the Foxes recovered to beat Burnley 3-1 in their most recent home game.

There are two Keanes. There’s Robbie and there’s the man who made a point of showing the world what kind of pantomime the Irish FA was. I know opinion is divided but I wouldn’t say traitor. Straight talking, no bullshit. I like his style. And before it may be brought up, I’m not a Man U fan. I just like the idea of identifying kak and pointing it out.

Interesting! I’m not convinced with Keane as a manager and think Leicester deserve someone more experienced really if they are to progress and justify their investments!!

Jesus. He can still get a reaction after all these years. And i will always love to hate him. He could have saved his “heroics” for another time. He will always be a sullen traitor to me!

I’d be surprised by I’m sure since they employed Sven they’re not paying peanuts. Leicester have a strong squad and I can see them going up this season.

Martin O Neill & Roy Keane have been pundits on ITV’s Champions League coverage this season – coincidence or what?! Roy probably needs a club again as he’s probably subsisting on beans on toast.

Keane’s managerial record is not half as poor as it’s painted. Took Sunderland up in the first go, kept them up, and was fighting with the board for more support during his 3rd season when he resigned after a row with Ellis short… In Ipswich he starred in lower mid table, was promised serious funds, given fook all (e.g. Wanted a striker – all he could afford was Jason freaking Scotland) and left with them exactly where he started, despite having to sell Jon Walters. There’s a lot of media friendly bluffers who have done a lot worse and get far better press… (Steve Bruce, Alex McLeish, Paul Jewell, Billy Davies, Steve Copell, just to name a few)

Roy is a Legend, first season in charge of the Black Cats, he got them promoted to the Premiership.. He has tasted success and bitter sweet symphony with Ipswich, but he has character and will be a great coach at the Foxes.. Roy for Keane and Coountry.. Can imagine the sale of Leicester jerseys will be big on the Banks of the Lee for their favourite son. Best of luck Roy;)
