KATIE TAYLOR IS the 60kg champion of Europe again after defeating French boxer Estelle Mossely in Bucharest.
The Olympic gold medallist retained her title at the European Boxing Championships after strong middle rounds saw her accumulate enough points to coast through round four.

Mossely looked to have enjoyed the better of the opening round but a flurry of Taylor punches scored vital points. The second round was a cagey affair, with both fighters circling cautiously and only briefly engaging in exchanges.
Taylor bossed the third round as she allowed her opponent to draw near before feigning low and landing a left-right combination. Mossely was forced to cling onto the Bray boxer in order to make it through the round in one piece.
With a points advantage secured, Taylor boxed clever in the final round as she waited for Mossely to press before scoring with head shots.

Imagine the hype if are rugby or soccer teams won games this many times consecutively never mind European competitions and yet she can’t even be on the tv
What’s with all the losers red thumbing positive remarks for Katie, trying to make up for the lack of achievement in their own lives no doubt. Well done Katie, brilliant achievement, looking forward to seeing you in Rio
Yeah good aul rte, the second biggest bike race race comes to our shores for 3 days and zero coverage from the state broadcaster. Now Katie Taylor, one of our finest sportsperson, wins gold and rte are found wanting again. If it was the Nags or the Gaa it would be on quick enough. RTE make me puke !
To busy with the likes of celebrity banisteoir, celebrity master-chef, the voice, repeats of shyte like eastenders and fair city to ever show anything worth watching .
Not sure if I read the same article you are talking about but if it is the one about the lack of support at the championships for Katie I cant see whats bizzare about it.
To be fair I’m no fan of RTEs but in relation to showing Katie’s fight and the giro d’talia plus other events these are all tied up months in advance for TV rights with other countries . You can’t just decide one day right were going to show Katie’s fight , it was all tied up by Romanian broadcasters and they wouldn’t part with the rights unless offered silly money. It’s although we would like to watch the fight live RTE obviously looked into it and decided it wasn’t cost effective. In fairness if they did splash the cash we’d all be on here complaining that they’re wasting the licence fee. So in fairness they’re in a no win situation….
Maybe they should stop wasting our license money on the likes of “The Savage Eye”, “Mrs Browns Boys”,
“The Saturday Night Show” etc,i could go on for hours, , your fee goes to producing drivel like this and towards paying the massive salaries for mediocre presenters. They are in a win win situation, for themselves.
Katie is a class act but there is no place for women boxing in sport. It is a hard hard sport and is not befitting of women as there is nothing feminine about 2 women thumping the heads off each other. It should never have become an Olympic sport but katie Taylor is by all accounts a tremendous human being and fair dues to her for here tireless efforts and RTE are a political beauocracy full of incompetent overpaid muppets who are subsidized by the Irish tv licence holder and they are as per the norm a national disgrace. Ryle Nugent as the head of sport in RTE is an absolute joke. Would be funny if it wasn’t true.
Why would RTE show it people have no Interest in women boxing its a mans sport full stop, along with hurling, football, golf, darts, motorcycle racing, rubgy, soccer etc…

Great performance! Well done Katie!
Shame on RTE for not getting this to air…..
Well said I wouldn’t of thought of that line myself ✌
Katie Taylor is a phenomenal athlete, good to see it was a competitive final too.
Apparently there were issues with Romanian broadcasters. Not entirely their fault. (Though I wish it was!)
I’m afraid the only issues would usually have been that they wouldn’t pay them enough.
I can’t think of any more consistent irish athlete. Well done Katie.
Well done katie and thanks to the journal for showing it.
Theres no beating this girl. Shes a credit to the country.
ten red thumbs, some very strange people out there.
Well done Katie and thanks to the journal for showing it
She’s deadly.
Imagine the hype if are rugby or soccer teams won games this many times consecutively never mind European competitions and yet she can’t even be on the tv
sher, it’s only a girl.
Beir Bua Katie – Comhghairdeachais !
Legend well done girl

Clare Grace was defeated in her semi-final but is still taking home a bronze medal.
Well done Katie.
Unstoppable,well done katy
Hugh Cahill’s article on RTE was bizarre.
Not sure if I read the same article you are talking about but if it is the one about the lack of support at the championships for Katie I cant see whats bizzare about it.
A real credit to her nation and rightly deserves all the plaudits.
Congrats..Good job she won or FF wud have nabbed for the next election
She’s a brilliant athlete but the constant references to God are way OTT … ” there’s no end to what god can do” please ….
Agreed big turn off ,wish she would keep all that private.
Should of gone pro last year!! She’s done everything at amateur, time to push yourself against the pro’s!
Boxing is a sport for knackers. Pat Kenny moved to NewsTalk?
Terrible attempt at been funny
lmao
Surely someone can organise a triple threat match between Katie Taylor, Sheamus and Conor McGregor. I’m sure she’d take both of them.
To be fair I’m no fan of RTEs but in relation to showing Katie’s fight and the giro d’talia plus other events these are all tied up months in advance for TV rights with other countries . Thank god.
Well done Katie again! Let’s not forget Clare Grace though. A phenomenal achievement too. She’s only 20 so a possible medal hope for Rio :-)

Ireland if very proud of you!
She is a credit to her father.

Amazing sports women we all should be so proud..
Great athlete but all the references about god are getting a bit annoying!!!
Well done Katie. Why was this not on rte?
Why would RTE show it people have no Interest in women boxing its a mans sport full stop, along with hurling, football, golf, darts, motorcycle racing, rubgy, soccer etc…
Well done Katie!!
Also great to see Mossely back at the top of her game. Hadn’t heard much from her since the Castletown Donkey of 1994.

Well done Katie, although I wouldn’t like to be at the receiving end of either if her fists
