KATIE TAYLOR IS into her sixth final in a row after besting Denista Eliseeva 3-0 in their European Boxing Championships semi-final this afternoon.
The unanimous decision will come as no surprise to those who’ve seen Taylor in action this week and marks the 16th time the 28-year old has reached a major championship final.
Eliseeva was the last fighter to beat Taylor – in a controversial decision on home ground in 2011 – and gave the Olympic lightweight champion her toughest fight of the week so far.
However, the Wicklow woman came out on top on all three judges scorecards to set up a gold medal decider against Estelle Mossely of France.
Mossely caused an upset to beat Sofya Ochigava – who was Taylor’s beaten opponent in the Olympic Games final – in the second semi.
The final of the 60kg event will take place tomorrow.
Taylor has already taken to Twitter to thank her supporters.
Ireland’s other competitor, Clare Grace fell short in her attempt to reach the 69kg final.
The Kilkenny boxer still picks up a bronze medal after losing on points to Stacey Copeland this afternoon.
