Kaka set to join new Major League Soccer side Orlando City SC

Brazilian ace will head to Sao Paulo on a short-term deal before moving to America in early 2015.

BRAZILIAN ATTACKER KAKA is close to completing a deal that would see him head to North America’s MLS early next year.

The 32 year-old has been in talks with the league’s newest franchise Orlando for quite a while and is expected to formalise a deal within the coming days. The club though doesn’t launch until March 2015 so it’s believed the attacker will return to his boyhood club, Sao Paulo, on a short-term loan arrangement before taking up residence in Florida from next January.

After four disappointing seasons in Spain with Real Madrid, Kaka returned to AC Milan last year, signing a two-year contract. He enjoyed a mini-revival, scoring nine times in 37 games and featuring prominently in what proved a difficult domestic campaign for the Rossoneri. With Max Allegri sacked midway through the season, Clarence Seedorf arrived to try and stop the slide and though things did improve with the Dutchman in charge, Milan still finished eighth. Unsurprisingly, Seedorf wasn’t retained as manager and Pippo Inzaghi will lead the club next season.

Having been left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad despite his solid recent form, it’s been a period of transition for Kaka over the last few months and clearly fancies a new challenge.

Orlando City’s majority owner is Flavio Augusto da Silva – a Brazilian – and with every new MLS side desperate to make an immediate splash and welcome a couple of high-profile names, they’ve pinpointed Kaka as the perfect debut signing.
