JUVENTUS CRUISED TO a comfortable 3-0 victory over Atalanta on Sunday, while AC Milan made light work of Pescara.
Three goals in the first half-hour from Mirko Vucinic, Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio set the defending champions on their way to a routine victory, as well as extending their run of clean sheets to five games, despite the absence of experienced trio Lucio, Simone Pepe and Leonardo Bonucci.
Antonio Conte’s men made a bright start and were well on their way after Montenegrin striker Vucinic curled a ball past Andrea Consigli in the second minute.
A moment of class from Pirlo then doubled the scoring in favour of the hosts, with the Italian international firing home a sumptuous effort into the top corner.
Vucinic spurned two clear chances but Juventus were not to be denied a third however as Marchisio was on hand to further extend his team’s lead and secure the points in the 27th minute.
At the San Siro, Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan eased to a 4-1 win at home to lowly Pescara.
The home side scored within seconds of the opening whistle after leading goal scorer Stephan El Shaarawy played in team-mate Antonio Nocerino, who made no mistake from inside the area.
Milan doubled their lead after Robinho’s corner was clumsily headed in by Elvis Abbruscato five minutes into the second half before Christian Terlizzi pulled a goal back for the visitors six minutes later.
However, Milan raced away with maximum points thanks to an own goal from Jonathas and a goal from El Shaarawy in the final 10 minutes, handing the hosts their fourth successive league triumph.
In other Serie A results on Sunday, a brace from Luca Toni and goals from Alberto Aquilani and David Pizarro guided Fiorentina to a crushing 4-1 win against Siena and Roma’s five-game winning streak came to an end after they were beaten 1-0 at Chievo.
A three-goal second half inspired Parma to a come-from-behind 4-1 triumph over Cagliari, Sampdoria suffered a 3-1 defeat at Catania, while struggling Genoa earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Torino.
