Chelsea’s defeat, which left them two points behind leaders Liverpool, having played a game more, was Mourinho’s first in 78 home league matches at the helm of the London club.
“I just want to say four things, and I’m sorry, because if you make me [answer] more questions, I will repeat in exactly the same way,” Mourinho told Sky Sports shortly after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge. ”Congratulations to my players, because they gave what they have and what they don’t have. Congratulations to Sunderland, because they won.”

Referring to match referee Mike Dean, who awarded the 82nd-minute penalty from which Fabio Borini scored the winning goal, he added: “Congratulations to Mike Dean, because he made a fantastic performance.

“And congratulations to Mike Riley (head of refereeing body Professional Game Match Officials Limited),” the Chelsea boss added, “because what they did during the season was fantastic for the way the championship is going. So congratulations to all of them, and I have nothing more to say. I’m sorry.”
Samuel Eto’o gave Chelsea a 12th-minute lead, but bottom club Sunderland quickly equalised through Connor Wickham before snatching victory thanks to former Chelsea striker Borini, who is on loan from Liverpool.
There were angry scenes in the aftermath of the penalty, with Mourinho having to restrain his assistant Rui Faria, who was berating Dean from the touchline.
Mourinho has had two previous run-ins with match officials this season and was last week fined and warned as to his future conduct after being sent to the stands during a 1-0 loss at Aston Villa in March. He was also fined for being sent off in a game at Cardiff City in September.
The penalty incident saw Cesar Azpilicueta penalised for sliding in alongside Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore, who lost his balance after placing his standing foot on the Chelsea full-back’s leg.
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet, a former Chelsea midfielder, expressed sympathy with Dean over the penalty, saying: “It was very, very tough on the referee. Every now and then you get it right and every now and then you don’t. It was the linesman who gave it straight away.
“We can talk about it for ages and even then we don’t know for sure. We need to give the benefit of the doubt to the referee.”
To see that eye gouging, trouble instigating, smug looking, condescending mother f**ker cribbing after his dull, dull football team couldn’t beat the worst team in the league, makes me extremely happy.Yes,I’m a Liverpool fan. Also,I’m drunk.
Happy Easter Everybody!
You must be drunk too Gerry if u can’t remember the Ramirez dive against West Brom or Etoo taking out Suarez. What goes around, comes around Mr Mourinho!
Ah now, life is too short to be getting to het up about these things. You guys are still in with a shout of winning the league and in the Champions league semis, not too shabby really.
It’s no wonder united didn’t want to give him the job. He’s well suited to Chelsea. Classless and crass. He needs to look at his Team and stop blaming referees. Chelsea were not even busting a gut for the last 10 mins, and never looked like scoring. It would be a travesty if they won the league.
A definite penalty after watching MOTD and Ramires should have been sent off. When you lose to the bottom club in the league, you cannot blame the referee. Your team should never get into that position.
Sure what harm Jose? I believe u said chelsea were not favourites to win the league and u would be happy with a second place finish only a few days ago did u not?
Typical mourinho sore loser with no class . More decisions go with chelsea than against them .not sure if its true but saw on twitter that it was the 1st penalty given against chelsea this season . The fa should ban him for a good few games teach him a lesson . hes an embarrasment & a lot of people are getting sick of his crass remarks . from sticking his finger in tito villanovas eye to his degrading remarks about managers & refs hes a bully who trys to intimidate people . it seems his arrogance is coming back to bite him on the backside it wasnt that long ago he was calling west brom a micky mouse club .
As a united fan for over 25 years and counting, it’s difficult to admit but there’s no question that Liverpool deserve to win the league this year. Gerrard has been outstanding as a captain and leader and the management have turned Suarez from hated racist into Ballon D’or material in one season and the team has played the best football by far so it’s truly well deserved if they do win it!
To be fair he didnt get anywhere near the ball for the penalty and then clipped his leg. What followed was chelsea trying to get frees amd penaltie more than trying to play football
Love the comments going about how this type of behaviour kept Jose from the United job, not like the last fella bullied and insulted refs and media and threw a strop blaming everyone but the team when they lost.
As bad as ferguson was he never resorted to sarcasm like this and not to mention telling a little kid he’d get a thump if he keeps wasting time, delighted to see chelski beaten more so mourinho losing, classless little mouth piece
Chelsea must be the most disliked team in European football, horrible to watch with a manager that is a disgrace. As for that muppet of a coach losing the rag yesterday, making a fool of himself in front of millions…what a muppet!! The plastic flags were nowhere to be seen yesterday
Congratulations to Jose, because he is such a great sport and an inspiration not only as a manager on and off the pitch but as a wonderful human being to all of mankind
Congratulations to Chelsea football club because they are such a classy club and a real blueprint of a club that blasts class at you with a blunderbuss.
Congratulations to the Chelsea fans who are without doubt the greatest fans in any sport ever at any time past present or indeed in the future
Jim beglin watched the replay of the penalty 10 times and after every one said it was a penalty, like a lot of former players they turn in to dopes when they retire

This stuff makes disliking everything about Chelsea as a Football Club so much easier to do….
He forgot to say congratulations to liverpool on winning the league
To see that eye gouging, trouble instigating, smug looking, condescending mother f**ker cribbing after his dull, dull football team couldn’t beat the worst team in the league, makes me extremely happy.Yes,I’m a Liverpool fan. Also,I’m drunk.
Happy Easter Everybody!
Happy Easter Cathal, but even a drunk , shortsighted, ref, wouldent have given that penalty, It stinks of something.
Drunk at 10pm? Jammy git.
You must be drunk too Gerry if u can’t remember the Ramirez dive against West Brom or Etoo taking out Suarez. What goes around, comes around Mr Mourinho!
Started at 5,and by the time the soccer and rugby were finished,it was Saturday night, and I enjoy a drink on a Saturday night!
Ah now, life is too short to be getting to het up about these things. You guys are still in with a shout of winning the league and in the Champions league semis, not too shabby really.
That last comment goes out to Gerry Campbell.Slightly off topic Gerry, but why am I Mr.Sparkle?
Stonewall penalty. Nuts to think otherwise.
A horrible manager for a horrible club with horrible fans. Hopefully they will win nothing.

The problem is that he never gets caught for his remarks.. Because technically he was congratulating the referee!!!
It has to be all about him tosser!

Your wit is wasted here.
Conspiracy that’s all it is, nothing to do with all the goals Liverpool have scored.
You should at least learn to spell before you embarrass yourself….
You want manchester undone to win?

Hahahahahahaha, cheers!
Jim beglin watched the replay of the penalty 10 times and after every one said it was a penalty, like a lot of former players they turn in to dopes when they retire
That’s because it was a penalty. He didn’t touch the ball and clipped the player.
He is a complete child. Takes no responsibility for his team or his lack of tactics. I think he needs to spend some time on the naughty step
Penalties for Tiddleywinks ~ Farce..
