O'Driscoll and Wilkinson go head-to-head again, this time in the TV studio

BOD’s a BT man but Sky have snapped up Jonny Wilkinson in response.

BRIAN O’DRISCOLL AND Jonny Wilkinson will line up against each other again as Sky Sports and BT Sport continue their battle for the hearts and minds of rugby fans.

With BOD already committed to Team BT, Sky moved to redress the balance today by snapping up England’s World Cup-winning out-half Wilkinson.

He will make his debut as an analyst on Saturday when Munster travel to Sale in the opening round of the new European Rugby Champions Cup (1pm).

Wilkinson will also join Sky’s Living for Sport campaign which aims to inspire young people.

“I’m excited about passing on my passion and sharing what I’ve learnt over the years with Sky Sports viewers and young people in the next chapter of my career,” he said.

“I’ll be in impressive company as I join another successful team and I hope that I can play my part in the studio.”

Sky are billing this year as their biggest ever season of rugby with over 360 live matches from the European Champions and Challenge Cups, the Guinness Pro12 and Ireland’s autumn series.

They have five Champions Cup games this weekend including holders Toulon who open their defence at home to Scarlets on Sunday afternoon (3.15pm).

BT also have five Round 1 matches including the two remaining Irish provinces with Ulster away to Leicester on Saturday evening (7.45pm) and Leinster at home against Wasps on Sunday (5.15pm).
