HOW MANY TIMES have we seen it before? Jonny Wilkinson’s kicking skills are one of the reasons he is a legend of world rugby, and those abilities were to the fore in Toulon’s Top 14 win over Bordeaux last night.

The 34-year-old kicked two drop goals, four penalties and two conversions in a 37-17 win to put the Heineken Cup holders top of the French league. However, it was the perfectly-weighted cross-field kick to set up Williams’ 66th minute try that stood out in a complete performance.

Wilkinson hasn’t been at his best so far this season, but it seems that his marriage during the week gave him just the boost he needed. The former Lions and England international is expected to retire at the end of the current campaign, but Toulon fans will be hoping there are many more contributions like last’s night’s before that day comes.
